A small baby elephant wandered away from her group, finding more
interest in a butterfly.

"Mom look!" a bigger baby elephant named Abeni said, tugging at
her tail with her trunk. Her mother turned her head to see one
of the little ones starting to wander from the herd. She let out
a soft trumpet as she began to walk over, attempting to grab the
baby's attention first.

The baby stopped in her tracks, looking over her shoulder and
forgetting about her previous pursuit. A smile grew on her face
as she turned tail and hopped back. She ended up losing balance
and falling forward in front of Abeni. Despite this, she rolled
onto her back and giggled, blowing her trumpet in an attempt to
imitate the older elephant.
"Kateya!" The mother shouldered her way past the other
elephants, looking down at her child. A soft smile grew on her
face as she looked to her fellow elephant. [b]"Sorry, I'm new to
this whole mother thing. I'll try harder to keep an eye on her."

The older mother, Idi, smiled gently. "It's alright, you're
doing fine," she replied. She turned back to look at the two
calves.
Abeni looked down at Kateya, waving her trunk around playfully.

"I suspect that she isn't your first calf?" Fraida questioned,
eyes trained on the children as well.
Kateya giggled and rolled onto her feet, eyes following the
trunk. She pounced clumsily, copying what she had seen a lion do
a few days prior (of course, from far away.) "Raaaooor!" she
squeaked, her smile still gracing her face.

Idi nodded, her tail swaying. "That's right. Well, she's only my
second," she confirmed, her eyes beginning to smile as she
watched the two toddlers play.
Abeni giggled and let out a happy call as she parade around her,
stomping her feet gleefully. "Eeek!" she squealed with a raise
of her trunk.

"Still. Its more experience." she chuckled, looking back to the
herd. "We should hurry the calves along. We'd get isolated if we
stray any longer." Fraida suggested.
"I am big bad lion!" The young elephant squeaked, her trunk
every now and then making a bit of noise to replace her
laughter. "I'm gonna get you!"

Idi nodded, agreeing and started to walk behind her calf to get
her moving back to the herd.
"Help!!" Abeni cried playfully, running a bit faster. Suddenly
she found herself trapped in front of her mother, and the game
was interrupted. That wasn't fair, they had barely gotten
started!

"Kateya honey, hurry along." Fraida called to her child, smiling
at her antics. She waved her tail in the youngun's face, which
she eagerly reached out with her trunk and grabbed.
