WE COULD BE ( meeting! ) IMMORTALS

Auroralights lied lethargically in her den, still awestruck that
their leader would desert them without even announcing it. She'd
tried several times to think of a reason why Icestar would leave
besides the idea that he just didn't have hope for FrozenClan
anymore. He couldn't have gone on a hunting trip; he would have
been back by now. And if he had been attacked by a wild animal,
wouldn't they have smelled blood or at least some trace of the
ex-leader? No. All Auroralights could find of the white tom were
footprints leading right out of the territory.
What would become of them now? Papermario hadn't been seen by
anyone in ages, and Icestar never appointed a new deputy.
Auroralights would have expected Maybloom to step up as leader,
but even she didn't seem to care that they had no authority
figure.
Maybe.. Maybe I could be the new leader? Auroralights pondered.
She was pretty qualified: she'd lived in the clan since she was
born, and already had experience as a high position. And her
connection with StarClan as a medicine cat might help her be a
strong leader. No, no, that's ridiculous! Someone else can do
it, someone more like Icestar.
But as she sat there, peering out of her den at the
desolate-looking camp, she realized that if she didn't take
control of this situation, no one would. Then what position
would they be in if they were attacked? Auroralights sighed,
knowing what she had to do.
"Excuse me... FrozenClan?" the petite female called, suddenly
more self-conscious than ever. She'd spoken to her Clan a few
times in the past, but she wasn't sure if she'd ever get used to
having so many eyes on her at once. The snow bengal took a deep
breath and tried to calm herself before her Clanmates arrived.

Polarpaw slowly ambled over to where the meeting was held, his
pure white ears perked up with interest. He didn't seem to be
fully awake as he seated himself in the almost empty clearing
that would soon fill up with FrozeClanners. One side of his
flank was still matted and needed a quick grooming, as if he'd
been napping for a while.
Snowballpaw, on the other hand, was wide awake. She hurried over
and sat down, her tail still swishing around excitedly as she
was extremely curious to what it could be about. Until Icestar
disappeared, nothing really happened around here. The gray and
white tabby locked her green orb-like eyes on the medicine cat
and eagerly waited for her to continue.

Bambipaw walked over, Thumper hopping beside him. The rabbit had
grown. A lot. He was still smaller than Bambi, but if he tried,
he could stand taller than his companion. The two sat down, the
rabbit wedging himself between the apprentice's front paws.
Avril stumbled over, the scents in the camp throwing her off.
Usually there wasn't so much hustle and bustle, which made it
easy for a blind fox like her to get around.

As she saw her Clanmates start to trickle in, Auroralights
swallowed painfully. What if they thought she was a power-hungry
tyrant? An arrogant slime who actually thought people liked her
enough to respect her as leader? Well, there was no turning back
now. She'd have to deal with the consequences later.
"Hello, guys," she began. "Um, as many of you know, Icestar has
been missing for quite some time... And I don't think he's
coming back. His paw prints lead right out of FrozenClan's
territory. I think he's lost faith in all of us." Auroralights
looked down at her paws in shame. FrozenClan used to be feared,
but now even the old leader thought they were a joke.
"Well... I haven't lost faith in us. I think we can still be the
respected Clan we once were, if we try. But first, we need a new
leader." Alright, this was it. Her life would change forever
after this. Auroralights closed her eyes for a brief moment,
then opened them again.
"Papermario hasn't done anything for FrozenClan in months-- in
fact, i don't even see him at this Clan meeting. I-- He-- I
believe it is for the benefit of the Clan that he is demoted
from his deputy position." She expected a swarm of angry
questions soon; what power did the medicine cat have to demote
someone?
"I haven't seen Maybloom in a while, either. She will not be
demoted, but I hope that she will pick up activity. And... And I
will be FrozenClan's new leader. That is, if you all are okay
with that."

Bambipaw listened, stub tail flicking every so often. He never
saw leadership material in Rory, but knew she was probably the
best choice out of everyone. And he sure as hell wasn't going to
step up himself, despite the previous leader being his father.
He smiled slightly, hoping that it would be encouraging to the
she-cat. All the while Thumper began chanting 'Aurorastar' under
his breath, hitting his foot on the ground each time.

Shocklights had been listening from just outside the den. After
a few seconds, he smiled brightly, nodded at her. She was
probably the best choice out of all of them. He joined the
rabbit in his chanting of her name.
