i wish i knew what it was like ( open )

Phoenixfeather sat still, her rump resting at the base of a
tree. It had barely snowed this leaf-bare, which was fairly
surprising to her. But despite the cold weather not being
apparent, the earth was still fairly cold and hard, and prey
still went into hiding. It was difficult to catch the
stragglers; she would know that. She did just barely catch two
mice. But both were small, probably left behind by their parents
to survive on their own.
The she-cat heaved herself onto her aching paws again, giving
them a quick inspection. It had appeared that she overworked
herself; her pads were cracked and scratched. Her front right
paw was even bleeding a little. The ex-medicine cat weighed the
options of getting it checked or ignoring it. She chose the
latter; her formed coworkers probably had a lot on their paws
already.
She winced as she padded away from the tree, chest heaving. She
knew she had to take it easy; the constant running, and chasing,
and biting, and clawing.... it would take a number on anyone,
even if they were just a young warrior. The mice swung from her
maw as she padded back into camp. She dropped them near the
entrance of the nursery, surely they would have use of them, and
turned back to the entrace of the camp, ready for another aching
round of finding prey.
Anything for her Clan. Even if it meant hurting all over. Even
if it meant losing sleep. Even if it meant skipping meals.
Anything.

Acidpaw jerked her head up from where she rested by the
apprentice's den. She sniffed the air, catching a very faint
scent of blood. She shook out her fur, settling back down. It
was probably a piece of prey that was caught badly, causing it
to bleed.

Stygianflare needed to go out to collect herbs. As she left the
den, she walked towards where Pheonixfeather stood. The medic
was just going to say hi and walk past, but glanced at her paws.
A medicine cat always noticed these things. "Hey, Pheo," she
greeted, sitting beside her. "Are you going hunting? Mind if I
come along to help?"

Pheo was focused on Acidpaw for a few moments. It seemed like
the apparentice had caught wiff of something, after all. Though,
her focus changed to Styg when she was spoken. "Help?" She
giggled. She wasn't sure on how much help a medicine cat could
be. "Sure, if you really want to." The tired she-cat purred to
her friend, taking a few steps forward and favoring her paw.
"Come on, then. The day isn't getting any younger!"

Her eyes flickered to her paw for a second before she quickly
followed her friend out of the camp.

Downpaw jumped up from her nap when she smelled food. The white
apprentice had grown much slimmer as leafbare wore on, and she
was starving! She looked longingly at the scrawny mice by
nursery and sighed. She couldn't take those. "Mind if I come
along?" the snowy she-cat asked as her stomach made a strange
noise.[b] "Hehe.. We gotta get more food!"

"Yay!" Roanoke hadn't taken her hunting yet, so she barely knew
anything at all, but she still wanted to help! She could learn
along the way, right?

Pheo simply smiled. She would've been excited to invite her
daughter along herself, but she was a bit to tired to. The
orange female led her friend and daughter away from camp to kill
them hunt.
