Join a Clan, he said. The trees swayed eerily above him like
skyscrapers, and the young tom was suddenly filled with the fear
that one would fall over and crush him. It'll be fun, he said.
Well right now, the fluffball was having anything but fun. He
doubted if he'd ever be okay again, after watching his mother
and soblingd being beat to death by a twoleg. His dad had told
him to come here to the forest, where he would be safe from
abusers. But he didn't feel any safer here. He was alone and it
was dark. The gray and white tom was terrified.

Priderock noticed a cat standing at the border, she curiously
walked over to the tom. "Hello." Her gentle voice greeted. "Who
are you?"

He wasn't sure if he should be relieved or even more terrified
that other cats had joined him. At least they weren't twolegs.
And the one who just talked seemed nice by the sound of her
voice. He was a kitten. Who would hurt a kitten? Well, besides
the people who slaughtered his family, that was. Okay. Deep
breath. He was alright.
The fluffy tom's dark green gaze darted from the first she-cat
to the other, and back again before realizing that someone had
asked him a question. Hurriedly, he replied, "I'm Placebo."

instincts kicked in as she looked at the kitten. "Would you like
me to take you back to my camp? I promise, you will be safe
there."

He shook his head. Though he was a bit shaky on his paws from
fear, he could manage to walk by himself. Hopefully camps wasn't
very far away.
