He figured he'd have to do it someday if he was ever going to be
her mate. Feeling caterpillars in his stomach, the golden tom
gulped and got up, picking up a few pretty flowers he'd found in
the territory yesterday. "Uh, Balloonpaw?" he called, looking
around for the pretty calico.

Balloonpaw, sitting close to the edge of camp, perked up her
wide ears and turned her head around, hearing the heir call her
name. A pretty little smile immediately lightened her face when
she saw Flappybird, her crush who had been recently been given
his warrior name. That reminded her, she should be getting her
name about now! Well, becoming a warrior wasn't really that big
of a deal to her. She could wait.
The calico stood up and trotted over to him, her tail posing
like a flag above her body, that was growing to look more
femininely nowadays. She still had those big, kit-like,
hazel-yellow eyes, though. "Hey you," she greeted, gazing up at
him. Was he getting taller? Probably. She wondered if her growth
spurt would ever come.

He felt a wave of heat flood his face and suddenly he wasn't
sure if he could do this anymore. But how could he explain the
flowers? He gulped. "Hey, Balloonpaw!" the heir mewed, trying
hard to keep his voice steady. "Listen, um..." He trailed off,
thinking of what he should say. Doggone it, why hadn't he
practiced?
After a few awkward seconds of staring at his paws, Flappybird
piped up, "I-- really like you.. A-and I was wondering if you
wanted to go out with me? H-here, I found some flowers for you.
They're really pretty and nice-- at least I thought they were...
Cause you're really pretty and nice too." He smiled shyly,
anxiously awaiting a response.

Balloonpaw listened, smiling. As she took in his stammers and
nervous smiles, her smile faded slightly and her hazel optics
widened in surprise. Blush quickly took advantage of the moment
and covered her face with pink. Oh my StarClan. He was asking
her out!
"You think I'm pretty..?" she squeaked softly, eyes shining.
Butterflies flooded her tummy and she shyly shuffled a little
paw in the dry dirt and grass. The bright smile, now anxious,
flattered, joyful, and excited, returned to her warm face. When
she noticed she had been staring into his smiling eyes for a
couple still seconds with her mouth cracked open, she quickly
blurted out her reply.
"Y-yes! I will go out with you, Flappy," she purred happily,
holding in explosions of girly squeals. "I really like you too."

She said yes! She said yes! Flappybird's grin widened, and he
tried to stop it but it only made him smile more. She liked him
too! "Yay!" was all the yellow tabby could think of to say. What
next? He had no idea, he'd never had a girlfriend before.
