A LADY DIED WHO DID EVERYTHING SHE WAS TOLD]] open

The lithe she-cat, Dreamcatcher, noticed a butterfly. The pink
and blue creature fluttered through the air while the Frozenclan
       member followed it.
The little bug alighted on the ground across a small crack in
the ice. Dream smiled, trotting towards it.
Suddenly a loud noise startled her, before the air rushed up
around her and seemed to swallow her. The ground- a frozen lake-
had taken her for its dead.

Shockwaves had been out hunting, and had heard the ice crack.
Eyes widening, he ran in the direction of the sound and saw the
open water. He slipped into the water, trying to find her.

The she-cat felt the water around her, almost like velvet.
Kicking feebly at the current, she held her breath for a moment.
It stung her eyes, invaded her nose, and irritated her throat.
The urge to cough became overwhelming as the warmth seeped from
       her extremities.
       Dreamcatcher was drowning.
Darkness edged in as she breathed the water, beyond return.
It wasn't like you thought. Drowning wasn't calm- she was just
fighting a losing battle. Not even knowing which way was up
spurred her into thinking- what could she do, how could she
       live?
       A single fact, nearly useless.
Try to find the original opening, don't fight the current.
       No, no. Fighting was done.
Her body went limp as he began to fall downwards in the water.
Her life didn't flash, her heart didn't race, her eyes weren't
wide. No, she was calm and in pain. The water was everywhere,
       too much, too.....

Shockwaves finally saw the she-cat. His eyes were hurting as he
tried to keep them open in the water, and he dove down,
attempting to grab her by the scruff. Then, he tried to swim
back up. It was hard, with the current pushing against him.
After a long while and him about to run out of air, though, he
was able to pull her and his head above the water. Weakly, he
reached up and dug his claws into a groove in the ice.

The she cat was tugged, but alas, it was shedding season and she
slipped easily through the tom's grip. She was gone.

"Shocky? What are you doing in there?" Auroralights asked, her
calm voice laced with worry. He couldn't have bedn just taking a
nice swim-- not in this freezing water.

He attempted to pull himself out and almost fell back in.
       "Help?" he asked, shivering violently.

She dashed to the tom and grabbed his scruff, scrabbling for a
paw hold to lift the heavier cat up.

When she pulled him out, he shook out his fur, then laid down,
curling into a ball to try and warm himself up.

She leaned against her friend to try to share her warmth, and
licked his fur gently. "What happened? Did you fall in?" the
       silver Bengal inquired.
