Elodie, for once, let out a cheer for the new medicine cat. She
liked her, even if she didn't know her that well.
My other characters cheered.

"After our tryouts and whatnot, I have decided that only one cat
will step up - if wanting to - to be my apprentice, beings only
two cats showed up to tryout. I will host some more herb
training later so Dancingdead may get an apprentice." The
medicine cat scanned the crowd, then meowed, "Elodie, do you
wish to becoming a medicine cat apprentice?"

Elodie stared in shock. She couldn't believe it, that she had
been chosen over Winterpaw, the prettier, shyer, and sweeter
apprentice. The young cheetah expected Winterpaw to be chosen,
having more knowledge of medicine, and being a true clan cat
with warrior blood. But she was honored all the same. Elodie
smiled modestly, standing up and nodding as she tried to push
out the correct words. "I...I do," she purred loudly. "I can't
thank you enough. I will do my best," she promised, knowing she
would. This was her chance to help the Clan more than she could
as warrior with nothing to do. She could heal others instead of
hurt.

Winterpaw smiled shyly at Elodie, happy she got the spot. Sure,
being medicine cat apprentice would be fun, in a way. But it was
constant work. Constant worrying about herbs and which ones to
use. She couldn't handle that type of pressure, especially when
she had just given birth to her kits.
