Everywhere she went it was hot and humid. Gross! The
tortoiseshell and white female paced around uncomfortably under
the meager shade of a tree, hoping there would be a cool breeze
soon to provide some relief from the endless heat.
Runningbrook laid against a boulder in the nursery, its coldness
sending chills up her spine. Ooh, that felt good. She called her
kits over to try it for themselves and get a little cooler.
Although Rainkit did admit she was a little warm, she chose to
be a stubborn little thing and refuse to listen to her mom. "No,
I like the heat!" the silver and white she-kit mewled, walking
out of the cave and into the sunlight to prove that if didn't
bother her.
Daypaw was working hard in the medicine den making sure all of
the herbs were perfectly organized. And where was the official
medicine cat and apprentice? Hmph, Daypaw was doing their job!
She shouldn't have been demoted to this stupid rank where she
had to be part warrior. Being a warrior sucked! Hunting was so
tedious and fighting practice was just downright stressful. The
tortoiseshell grumbled and decided to go outside to take a walk.
Being cooped up in the medicine den for so long made her start
to get prickly, and that wasn't good. No one liked prickly cats.
Daypaw strode out of the cave she was in, blinked away the
blinding sunlight, and picked her way down the rocky hillside
toward the main part of the territory.

Skykit grinned and scurried after his sister, then speeding past
her and rolling to a stop on the cushiony grass. Then he just
continued to lay there on his back with his belly exposed,
quickly soaking up the sunlight without a care. Nice warm
warmness.
Sunfeather let out a long and sleepy yawn as she repeatedly
attempted to blink out the sunlight peering into the cave.
Finally her eyes went wide and she ran her round yellow orbs
over the area. Oh dear, how long have I been napping? No matter,
I guess I'll just have to catch up on my duties. The pretty
orange tabby hurried out of the warriors' den, swishing her
silky-furred tail back and forth as if to wake herself up from
sleeping in.
Mosspaw found himself snoozing away as well, but he really
didn't care. The apprentice shifted and rolled onto his back,
stretching a front leg straight up into the air and then letting
it slowly fall back into place: curled up on his chest. It's too
hot to get up...

Rainkit smirked and attempted to pounce on her brother's exposed
belly. "Rawr!" the silver ticked tabby growled playfully.

Wolfstar sat alone, completely alert. The leader had been
keeping watch over the night and still kept it up, making sure
that nobody would get in without his approval.

Spotting Wolfstar on her way out of camp, Daypaw's face
contorted into a questioning stare. "What're you doing,
Wolfstar?" the medicine assistant asked the leader. "I don't
think anyone's gonna invade us in broad daylight."

He shrugged. "What about the other dangers? I don't care if
nobody is going to, I like being on the safe side," he
explained.

Rosestar was sitting beside her sister, her tail flicking as she
giggled a bit. Although the chocolate tortoiseshell knew her job
was very important, and that she should be serious, she just
couldn't be. She was deprived of her childhood after both of her
parents died and forced to act like a mother to her younger
brother. Sure, Petalstream took that job more seriously and
still does, but Rosestar believed that she deserved to have some
of her childhood back. Hence the reason why she is so giggly and
childish.
Petalstream yawned gently, her tail curling around her paws as
she did so. Her light blue eyes had spotted Sunfeather and she
smiled a bit more. She loved her sister, she really did, but her
giggles could get annoying after a while. "Oh, look! Its
Sunfeather! I better go say hi before she falls asleep on her
paws~" the she-cat smiled gently, waving goodbye to her leader,
who cheerfully waved back at her. The more mature sister
approached the sleepy warrior with a smile. "Hey~"
Molestorm was still asleep. Well, for the most part. See, the
disabled tom was in between the real world and the dream world,
where everytime he woke up, he would force himself to sleep so
he could continue the dream. It was a dream where everything was
perfect. He was full siblings with his sisters, he had a fourth
leg, and his children had a mother to depend on. Oh, how
bittersweet it was. After finally realizing that it was a dream,
the tom slowly opened his eyes and gazed down at his nub of an
arm. He rolled his eyes and began to get up, only to be attacked
by little furballs.
"Daddy~!" Waterkit squealed quietly as she rolled into her
father's side, quickly curling up. Her brother followed behind
slowly, amber eyes glittered with amusement. "Wake up already!
You've been asleep for days!" the grayish silver kitten
exaggerated. The father of the two shook his head gently,
chuckling, and standing up. He slowly lead them outside, batting
the sleep out of his eyes, then motioned to the other kits.
Waterkit understood immediately and tumbled over to the other
kits. Bearkit soon followed.
"Can we play with you guys?" Bearkit asked as they reached
Rainkit and Skykit. He sat down and curled his little tail
halfway around his paws, waiting for an answer. Waterkit,
anxious to just get playing, was batting around the end of his
tail as it twitched and flicked.

Swampstar walked into the camp, dropping a fat pigeon. He shook
out his fur, painting slightly as he looked around for water.
It was so hot out here, and the firey tom was beginning to envy
those cats in the cold territories, which was rare for him.

"Swampstar~!" Rosestar giggled, tail flicking as she trotted
over to the fellow leader. Many might say that she had a crush
on her co-worker, and maybe it was true. The chocolate
tortoiseshell would never admit it though. She didn't want to
fall in love - it always ends with pain in the end. She was fine
with just her sister, brother, niece, and nephew. She was not
jealous at all when she saw mates together or mothers caring for
kits; not a bit. "Did you catch that? I'm so proud~!" she
grinned.

"Suit yourself. Want me to bring you some water? I'm heading to
the pond to soak some moss." The apprentice waited for
Wolfstar's answer. He must be crazy if he wasn't at least a
little hot and dehydrated.
"Yeah, you guys can play!" Rainkit squealed, running away from
her brother and aiming to pounce on Bearkit.
