[spoiler=Chapter 1]
A rustle in the bushes was heard as a plump rabbit was leaping
around, trying to find food. Meanwhile, a small Jingle was
followed by the rustle, and the rabbit leaped away as the
kittypet jingled on through the forest. Prey scattered as the
kittypet trotted back to the twolegplace, head high and a large
grin on her face. She leaped over the fence and sat down by a
small group of other cats. "I heard the racers are coming back."
An orange tabby she-cat meowed. "Maybe they might win by a
hair." The jingly-cat meowed, lifting up her chin. A brown
she-cat rolled her eyes. "Say somethin about her collar before
she goes nuts in the head." She muttered, nudging the orange
tabby.
"Hey uh nice collar Dixie!" The orange tabby meowed.
Dixie purred. "Do you think Husky will notice?"
"He'll notice if you glue a mirror to youself." The brown cat
mrowed.
Just then, two cats came dashing from the forest, obviously
racing. "I bet two boxes of Kitty Yums that Husky will win!"
Dixie piped up. "What about you Ginger?" Ginger shook her head.
"Isnt it obvious enough? Hes been bragging around the whole nest
that hes going to win." Muddy. the brown cat, snickered. "Better
get that mirror ready, Dixie." She teased. Thats when the crowd
started meowing and howling. Husky stood up proudly as the
twolegs walked through, but his smile turned to a snarl as they
just passed him, and leaned down to get a look at Jay, the real
winner. Jay looked up proudly. Though she wasnt a kittypet, she
was an alley cat. Wild. The twoleg stood up and started talking
with the other one, then leaned over to pet Jay. Jay flinched
back, but eventualy let herself be the winner.
It wasnt long after the races when Jay eventually started
chatting with the other cats, with Husky among them. "And
then.." He meowed, the she-cats adoring him. "..We all fell. All
the racers fell down the hill, with just me and the Alley Cat
left. Of course, I couldn't think of myself. So I leaped down
and tried to help the cats, while the Alley Cat just ran off,
laughing like a maniac." The cats gasped and Jay just stared at
the crowd. "I tried to help them up, but it was too late, and I
couldn't let Jay be so cruel and win herself. So I left them and
ran as fast as I could, but Jay beat me by a hair."
"That stubborn thing!" Dixie called out, batting at Husky's
collar.
Jay just looked down and looked at the forest. It was all a lie!
Nothing in that story was true. They all got tired during the
race but Jay kept on running. Unable to bear not fitting in
anymore, Jay leaped off the fence and sprinted out into the
forest.
