She didn't know what to say-- rather, she didn't know how to say
it. Shockpaw was the best friend shed ever had and she loved him
so much, but would he feel the same? After all, she'd already
had kittens with another tom. No, she wouldn't tell him
anything; she didn't want to ruin her only frîendship.

Should he say anything? No, he couldn't--he didn't want to ruin
anything. Sure, he loved her; always had, always will, even when
she had kits with Ticktockpaw. But you don't just go up and say
that to someone casually as if you were asking them their
favorite color, so he kept his mouth shut and just stayed how he
was.

Soon the smell of a rabbit hit her scent glands and she started
to stalk it.
