[center]I suck at titles. And writing in general, but get you
gotta practice to get better. I think this first chapter is so
boring. Any tips to make it better?
       Chapter 1:
[spoiler]It's a peaceful place here by the water. My grandmother
Pond is the kind leader of our River Pack. My grandfather Branch
and my mother Moss provide my siblings and me with ample food.
There are a few dangers of living so close to the water. One is
drowning, but everyone in River Pack is intelligent enough to
avoid the rushing water if we can't swim. The other is the water
buffalo, but they don't really harm us either.
I ponder these hazards as I sit and watch the stream flow
underneath my charcoal paws. As I sit on the grass I wonder,
what else could be out there? The rivers and ponds could hardly
be considered the most exciting places out there. I imagine vast
plains, snowy precipices, thick green forests, and fields of
multi-colored wildflowers. I don't know much about the other
packs, and most of what I've heard from Moss isn't good, but the
way she describes their territories makes them sound, simply
put, amazing. I'd love to visit them all.
My serene thoughts are interrupted by a sharp burst of panic as
I feel cold paws on my back. I yelp as I splash into the water.
Luckily it's shallow by the bank, so I'm able to climb out
easily, but I'm soaked! The river during fall could hardly be
       considered warm, either.
Shivering, I turn to see my giggling attackers: Minnow, Bracken,
and Fuzz. They're my siblings, and they all look practically
identical. The three of them resemble our mother with their tan,
silver, and creamy white pelts. I sometimes wonder why I turned
out so different, me and my jet-black pelt.
"You should have seen your reaction, Burn!" my sister Fuzz yelps
in amusement. She and my only brother Bracken are in the midst
of a small wrestling match among the reeds. I hope they fall in
       the river.
"Should I have?" I bark bitterly as I start to shiver.
"Oh, lighten up, grumpy guts," Minnow's silky voice rumbles from
somewhere closer to me, but I continue scowling ahead. If I look
at her, I'll likely say something to hurt her fragile feelings.
When I don't respond, she pushes on with, "It really was funny."
I guess it was, but I can't just be cheerful again after being a
grump a second ago. I flick a black ear and shrug.
"Hey, look out!" Minnow yowls just as I'm tackled to the ground.
Fuzz and Bracken are done tussling and want to pester me now. I
attempt to roll out of Bracken's way, but it's two on one, and
I'm not a good fighter. I make a troubled squeak from underneath
my chubby brother and start to wriggle around to escape.
Finally, after a tiring amount of effort, I am free. I squirm
out of Fuzz and Bracken's grasp and out into the open. I start
to run away, but I only get so far as a yard before I trip over
a root and my two restless siblings are on me again. I crack a
smile and start to play along with them, batting and kicking and
squirming around. I'm not the aggressive type, but I do enjoy
playing around with my siblings. Games are fun.
