Angelic stiffened when she was briefly pulled into a hug, though
she didn't pull away until he offered to leave. She ignored
Vani's statement, seeing as she didn't agree. Sure, Flicker
won't ever be her father; father was a term for the tom who
shared blood with his children. But Flicker could still be her
dad, which was used more for a guy who was there for children,
even if they weren't his blood. After a few seconds of deep,
rattled breaths, she explained what happened to the best of her
ability. "B-B-Bumblebee l-left..." she found herself stuttering
and lowered her head some more. "H-he said he f-felt... like
tr-trash...."

Firework had been hunting when he heard his sisters. Quietly, he
walked over and sat beside them, touching each one on the head
with his muzzle gently. He didn't know Bumblebee well, but he
felt bad for them having lost him.

"He drove away my father because he wanted me!" Vani meowed at
them, tears running down her face. What if she was right.

Balloonpaw's round hazel-yellow eyes widened in shock. Left? Why
the heck would he leave his own kits? And why did he feel
unappreciated? When did anybody ever insult or abandon him?
Well, Innocence, she supposed. And also, Balloonpaw hadn't been
around Bumblebee very often, so there definitely could've been
more to the story than she thought. She could understand that he
went through a lot, but still, they needed him! Maybe she should
go after him...not now, she'd think about it later. She was
determined to keep things from ending like this.
Saddened by the news and hoping to comfort her family, the young
calico reached over to stroke her tongue over Angelic's and
Vani's heads. She paused to murmur, "I'm so sorry..." Balloonpaw
flattened her ears and drooped her tail in sorrow as she settled
down in front of them. She wanted to help them, really, but she
didn't know how. She knew what it felt like to lose a parent,
but now, Balloonpaw and Innocence were on good terms again. If
Bumblebee wanted to be treated like family, he probably
should've stayed and straightened it out with them. That's why
she hoped to at least go talk to him about it, wherever he was,
if it was possible to bring things back to the way they were
before. But better.
One ear perked up as Vanillapaw wailed in despair, and she
attempted to lock her eyes with her precious younger half
sister. "Vani, sweetheart, look at me," she meowed calmly, then
continued, "Flickeringstar loves you. He loves you like you were
always his daughter, so I don't believe he would ever do such a
thing to Bumblebee unless he was a danger to any of us,
especially with it made you so upset. Bumblebee left because he
chose to. And maybe it was because of our leader that Bumble
left, but it's not Flickeringstar's fault that they didn't get
along."
Balloonpaw touched her nose to Vani's, hoping she understood.
"Maybe there were other reasons why Bumblebee left, too. I don't
know the details. Maybe I'm totally wrong. But what I do know is
that you can't be mad at your family forever. Well, you can, but
that's just another second wasted being angry. I think we are
all hoping that Bumblebee does come back someday, but if he
doesn't and decides to start a new life somewhere else, then
you'll have no father. Because Bumblebee will be gone, and you
didn't give Flickeringstar a chance. I'm not saying that you
have to change your mind for me, it's all your choice on what
you do about this. They're your feelings. All I know is that I
might've been a wreck if I didn't forgive a family member for
what they did, and I really, really don't want you to end up
like that. I want you all to be happy."
Balloonpaw stepped back to let her think it through, her gentle
gaze traveling back down to the ground in front of her. She
didn't expect to say so much, especially because she didn't know
if it would be any help. Or if it would make things worse.

[sup]Flappypaw, whose parents had died quite some time ago, had
never experienced parental or familial love. But seeing poor
Vanillapaw and Angelic crying made him a little glad he never
had to endure that. He supposed not all families were like that,
but still, the loner-minded tom wasn't eager to have one of his
own too soon. The brown tabby bit his lip, deciding that he
couldn't help out with much anymore, and left the scene.
Stainedpaw walked over.
