The formal was rushing up all too fast, but little Toothpaw was
determined to show himself up to his sister, Floatingpaw. She
always underestimated him and treated him like a baby, like he
was too weak (which he obviously wasn't, he was strong for his
smallish size). Well, not this time. Of course, that was
definitely not the only reason he was excited. Angelic, the
beautiful kitten he had spotted here and there, lived here with
her family. He was usually too shy to go up to any girls, but
Floatingpaw didn't help, especially. Toothpaw grinned and
bounded up happily to the SerpentClan border before skidding to
a stop, staring breathlessly into the pine forest. Was he really
going to do this...? I mean, he was weird looking. Some might
even say ugly, due to the unusual deformed tooth sitting outside
of his mouth in plain sight. Toothpaw nervously bit his lip, but
squeaked and immediately let go. That hurt...Stupid tooth!

Shh. Stay quiet. Don't hesitate. The young apprentice that went
by the name of Angelic was on her first lone hunting trip and
was running through the steps with her mind. She had a rabbit in
range, and was about ready to tackle it and practice her skills.
The white and gray female took one step back before launching
forward and giving the rabbit a chase. Finally, she pounced and
tackled it, biting into its warm throat. She flinched as blood
flowed onto her muzzle and instinctively snapped back,
disgusted.
She dabbed her paw on her muzzle and looked at her pad, and
sighed. She never liked hunting. It seemed fine from far away,
but now she saw she was taking innocent lives to fuel those that
aren't so innocent in her camp. The female quickly cleaned her
muzzle and paws and stood up, only then noticing that a few
fox-lengths ahead, there was a cat sitting. She blinked her blue
eyes and smiled, padding closer. "Hello!" She purred, hoping the
cat didn't watch her catch. She eyed the tom's tooth, her smile
turning into a grin. "Hey! I know you! You're Toothpaw, from
DevilClan."

Toothpaw was quite lost in his worrying thoughts, he almost
didn't notice the cat he had been hoping for to walk straight up
to him. The dark tabby tom blinked his widening yellow orbs as
the she-cat approached him, chirping towards him kindly. "Oh,
uh..hi!" he quickly mewed, straightening his sitting position.
When she immediately recognized him from the canine poking out
of his mouth, Toothpaw somewhat self-consciously let his eyes
drop to his paws. She was nice about it, so he wasn't at all
upset, just a little ashamed. No one could do a thing about it,
not even Floatingpaw (even as much as she seemed to try), so he
tried to push it away as much as he could. Still, he was named
after it, so it was difficult to avoid. "Yep, that's me,"
Toothpaw replied, and put on a little cheery smile. The sturdy
apprentice, adjusted his front paws' position while glancing
over at the limp rabbit flopped across the needle-covered
ground. "Nice catch!" he blurted out approvingly. He knew those
weren't the easiest thing to catch.

She sat down in front of him, just inside the border. She knew
that you weren't supposed to let your guard down around other
cats, but she knew that Toothpaw wouldn't think of hurting her.
He was too nice. Angelic followed his eyes to her latest kill
and frowned a bit. "Thanks, but I know I didn't do that well."
She flicked her ear and decided to cheer up again. She wasn't
Angelic the downer, you know!
"So what are you doing here, Toothpaw? DevilClan isn't treating
you bad, are they?" She asked, tipping her head to the side
curiously.

His heart jumped nervously, remembering what he had come here
for in the first place. What should he say? That he had been
watching and waiting for her to come to ask her to the dance? It
was the truth and he didn't want to lie, but it sounded a
bit...creepy. Perhaps he should take this slowly, so she could
at least be more comfortable around him.
"No, no, no, I'm fine! Everything is okay," Toothpaw assured her
quickly, shaking his head. He took a deep breath and lowered his
head, but tried his very best to keep his eyes from looking away
from her face. He couldn't really avoid the question now. What
else could he say? The only reason he came was meet this certain
female, so saying anything different would make him feel
dishonest. Toothpaw shyly shuffled his two front paws, and took
a moment to swipe his tongue over his white-diamond chest before
shooting his yellow gaze back to Angelic. "I..uh...I wanted to
ask you.." Toothpaw squeezed his eyes shut and then quickly
opened them. Come on, be brave!
Once again, the dark tabby apprentice tightly closed his eyes,
too scared to witness her reaction. "Do you want to..go to the
formal with me?" he muttered, his voice slowly growing quieter.

"Are you sure?" She asked when he explained that everything was
fine. The young apprentice reached out to carefully tap his
nose. She let out a light hearted giggle. "Well, if you say so!
But if you do feel like you're being neglected or hurt, you can
come and visit any time you want!" Angelic purred, putting her
paw back down. He seemed even more nervous now. How come? Was he
lying to her? Was he being neglected? Hmm.
She blinked her blue eyes when he asked the question. "The
formal...?" She searched her memory for any recollection of the
dance, staring blankly at him and taking her time. The formal...
oh! The thing that FrozenClan is hosting! [I]How could I
forget?[/i] The female mentally slapped herself before coming
back to the real world and focusing on the tom who asked her.
Wait, a tom actually asked her? A real male from a far away Clan
came to her's and asked her? What would her mother think? What
would her father think? What about her brothers? She put on a
smile and threw out the questions. Surely they'd be happy for
her! Plus, this was just a date to the dance. It wasn't like she
was promising anything personal to him! With a flick of her tail
and a nod, she began to speak.
"Well..." she squinted her eyes a bit. "I do think you're cute.
And you're nothing like the toms in my Clan..." Angelic didn't
like the toms in her Clan. They were all for girls that were
already taken. Weird. "So, of course I'll go with you! It'll be
really fun!"
