Pheo had never, ever done this kind of thing in her life.
Swimming, yes. Medicine, yes. Building, climbing, and running,
yes. But the one thing girls are stereotypically good at, no.
She was always afraid of the ice breaking underneath her. But
now that it was proven that the ice was about a foot thick and
probably wouldn't break, she decided to try it. With her new ice
skates, she walked out onto the ice, arms out to the sides.

Mazey wobbled herself onto the ice, grabbing the air and
swimming with her arms to keep balance.

Pheo tried to picture how the ladies in the video she had
watched pumped their legs, but only came up blank. She bit her
lip and put one foot in front of the other, then pushed back.
She did well, other than a few trips and falls.

Mazey fell and planted her back onto the ice, folding her arms
and felt as if steam was coming out of her ears.

This was one of the things Faust was a natural at, like
climbing. He was over by Pheo as soon as he was on, then asked,
"Want some help?"

to him, blushing a bit.

He took her hand and moved a bit closer, ready to catch her if
she fell. He had fallen a lot when he was learning, so it was
expected.

"First, you have to learn to keep your balance. So just hold on,
and try to follow me. If you fall, don't worry. I'll be right
here to catch you," he explained, smiling. He moved a bit slower
than usual since she wasn't used to this.
