Emptypromises sat in a tree, grooming his fur. He felt like he
was becoming too much of a softie. The brown tabby decided he
had to be more like he was before. His eyes closed, he continued
to think. When he opened them, he jumped down carefully, making
sure he would land in the river below. Maybe he could get some
peace and quiet today, but he doubted it.

out collecting herbs. She hadn't talked to him in forever.

Deli pranced by with her son, Saltkit, and walked over to the
river. "Alright, Salty, hun, we're going to swim today, okay?"
Saltkit sniffed the water and looked up at his mother. "Okay,
momma!" Deli turned, saw Empty and Streamflow and tipped her
head. "Hello, you two." Deli delivered a look to her son, who
ruffled his marble tabby fur, like his dad's, and puffed up his
chest, doing it like his mother had taught him. "Good day,
Emptypromises and Streamflow." Deli patted him on his back with
her tail gently and gave a smile. "Good boy." Salty looked
happily up at his mother.

Eppy smiled at the kits. He had always loved kits, but never
really spent much time with them because he was busy too much.
"Hey Deli," he said, then looked down at the kit. "And hello
Saltkit," he added with a smile. The reason he knew his name?
Emptypromises made it his business to know the names of every
cat in the Clan.

Deliriadreams gave a quick smile and nudged Saltkit gently into
the water, where he jumped freely in and paddled around
instinctively. Deli purred and then glanced at Eppy. "How're
you?" she chirped, looking back at her son every once and a
while to make sure he was okay.

He looked around, sighing. Eventually he sat down, curled his
tail around his hind paw, and replied, "I've been better." Eppy
flicked his ears.
