Deliriadreams had just been walking along, like always, when she
felt a growing pain in her belly. More than usual. She took in a
sharp gasp and fell to the ground, very close to the nursery.
She growled inwardly. No way were her kittens going to come out
of her in front of everybody. She dragged herself into the
Nursery, where it was quiet and warm and sat in her nest,
panting and heaving. The deputy didn’t know it would’ve hurt
this much! She tried to focus on breathing, as that was what she
had heard the medics say to the other Queens. Deli felt
something stirring in her stomach, kicking, fighting and
pushing. Well, two somethings. She took the chance and pushed.
And about two hours later, she had done it herself. No crying,
even if she had wanted to. She was the freaking deputy! If she
could kill a cat with one swipe of her paw, one snap of the
neck, she could squeeze two babies out of her. And once she was
done, she ended with two kittens. One would be named Saltkit.
And the other Seakit. She hadn’t decided that yet, for sure.
She’d make sure Strangledfox liked them. Speaking of her mate,
she saw one looked a brighter silver and white, like her, but
not tabby, and soon to be named Saltkit looked exactly like his
father. Deli frowned. She was never doing this again.

Pheo watched her sister drag herself away and smiled softly. She
grabbed borage from the den, and waited for the quiet cries of
kits to leak out of the den. She slowly padded in, stopping
halfway into the entrance. The medic didn't know if the deputy
really wanted visiters so soon after birthing.

Deli shot up, and then relaxed as she saw Pheo. "Phi? I am NEVER
doing that again." She groaned and lashed her tail, resting once
again. The silver deputy didn't bother to look at the kits
again. She loved them, sure, but she was not going to pay any
attention to them until she had calmed down. Which was most
likely in about twenty minutes.
