       Pure darkness.
       But she could hear. Oh, yes, she could hear all these wonderful
       sounds! The little kit could hear the morning birds chirping,
       the queens chatting. She could hear paws thud against the ground
       carelessly. She could hear the apprentices' gossip and the
       warriors' sort out patrols.
       And Teakit could feel! She could feel the soil under her, her
       mother's warm body. The kitten could feel her own soft, fluffy
       fur. Teakit pried open her eyes, and could see.
       She could see! She could see greens and yellows. Pink and
       purple. Orange and gray. Black and white. Brown and blue. She
       could see her mother's orange tabby pelt. She could see the
       walls of the nursery.......[/font][/center]
