Gunshot stood silently, head down. He was standing exactly, or
almost exactly, where he had been when he had first had real
conversation with Hysteria. It was a nice spot, which was why
both of them had been there. Gunshot had been shy, tongue tied.
Hysteria had not. Okay, there was no reason to be acting so
nostalgic. He wasn't old yet, not about to do, had no real
reason to think of the past. Look to the future, right?

Night rested by her den. Well, more like acting like she was
asleep to keep her parents away. Sure, she couldv'e told them to
hit the road. But why and how could you disrespect such cats?
Exactly. The fake-sleeping leader fake-stretched, acting like
she was just waking up. She spotted Gunshot and trotted over
       with a grin.

Hearing the mau's light footsteps, Gunshot jumped up, head
twisting wildly until he spotted the leader. Oh. It was slightly
embarrassing, the whole scared mouse reaction, but the male had
grown used to it. "Hey," he purred softly, offering a small
       smile.
