call out to the hearts [private, ravy]
By: dawnfire111 Date: August 27, 2013, 6:18 pm

Balloonkit lounged beside a weed, one that wouldn't live very
long, while poking curiously at a fly that was obviously going
to take its last breath sometime soon. The female pulled her paw
back and frowned as she stood up on her precious little feet.
She watched the little black bug crawl up to the plant and stop
its exhausted legs to die in peace. It was a little sad to find
the kitten observing the death of a creature that seemed to have
no value in the world. Balloonkit let out a little sigh as she
looked away, towards the camp that rested in a pool area. She
found it a little weird, but cheering as well, knowing there
were plenty more interesting items to find around here.

The tiger cub hadn't had many intentions on speaking to her
daughter, who was avoiding her for obvious reasons. But seeing
Balloonkit just stare at a fly and a blade of grass made her
worry. Innocence rose to her large paws and lumbered over,
almost tripping. She was about the size of a regular domestic
cat, but was only a month or two older than Balloonkit herself.
It was weird.
[b]"Balloonkit, honey, what are you doing?"

Balloonkit's ears flattened and her eyes widened as she turned
her attention towards the cub. At first she didn't know who she
was, since she wasn't there when Innocence came back in her new
body as a growing big cat. But soon she realized the way the
young female looked at her, how she knew her name, and why she
called her "honey." Innocence! She narrowed her eyes and stared
down at the ground beside herself. "Nothing..." The calico
mumbled, holding in her anger. If she dared to talk about the
problem, her normally calm voice would change drastically into a
snappy maddened and disappointed tone.

Innocence blinked a few times, her tail flicking back and forth.
"Balloonkit, why are you avoiding me?" she asked, a bit worried.

Now she couldn't avoid the situation, she couldn't hide the way
she had deeply upset her. "Why am I avoiding you? Are you
kidding me?!" She hissed, desperately holding back the tears.
Balloonkit coughed once to clear her throat, her voice calming
down now but it was still shaky. "Do you even remember what you
did to Dad? Your so called "mate?" You...you..." She stopped,
her mouth quivering at the thought of even speaking the word.
Memories rushed in her mind and she stepped back, wrapping her
tail around herself protectively. One drop slid down her face.

She had almost forgot about that, and the cub was ashamed of
herself for letting it get that far. "Balloon, honey, I'm sorry
you had to see or even think about that." she squeaked, trying
to make it understandable, even for herself. "I don't know what
I was thinking when I tortured my fiance. I swear. I just got
really... angry. I don't think you would know the feeling of
knowing that you're soon-to-be husband is having children with
someone you're really close to."
Innocence sighed, stopping her tail from any movements and
letting her ears droop. "I should've been happy, but I was being
greedy. I wanted Flicky all to myself, so hearing about this
little tale and seeing that it was true ticked me off, and I
took out my anger on your father." the cub laid down, tucking
her paws under herself and whimpering. [b]"I'm very sorry to do
that to your father."

Balloonkit stared at her paws, still very much hurt and not
satisfied yet. It was really, really hard not to twist her
mother's words. There were so many things she could say back to
offend her. She could just imagine a sharp reply to each of
them.
"I don't know what I was thinking when I tortured my fiance. I
swear.
Now you've lost your memory? You already used that one.
I just got really... angry.
You're not the only one getting angry. Do you see them torturing
others?
I don't think you would know the feeling of knowing that you're
soon-to-be husband is having children with someone you're really
close to."
So you're saying I'll never find a mate? Thanks.
Balloonkit squeezed her soft optics shut, her tiny paws
clenching the dry dirt beneath her. For once it was extremely
difficult to forgive her. When her mother had admitted her
greediness and uncontrolled anger, it soothed her anger down
slightly. She seemed to be truly sorry for it, but Innocence had
still caused Flickeringstar to feel like the guilty one when she
betrayed him with a whip. "Does he know that?" She mewed very
softly as she answered her mother's last statement, lying down
as well and scrunching herself up to tuck her face into her
paws.

She untucked her paws, crossing them in front of her and laying
her massive head on them. She never thought of that. Did
Flickeringstar know she was sorry? Or did he just think it was
something that was supposed to be done? Oh great, now she just
had to find out. But, until then, she wanted to be at least
acquaintances with her daughter. If she couldn't, then she
wouldn't sign up for the next litter with her fiance. I mean,
whats the point if you can't even gain the trust of your
almost-apprentice-aged daughter?
"I... Don't know." she mewed simply, ears laying flat against
her head. "I never thought of that, I just assumed..." she
swallowed a lump in her throat before standing again, looking
down at her daughter. Her beautiful, loving daughter with more
imagination then anyone Innocence could think of. There was no
way she was going to win this little conversation. The only way
she could get out of it right would be ending it on a good note.

Balloonkit's pale hazel orbs softened as the head's partner
spoke out her thoughts truthfully. Her rounded head was forced
from out of the soft and cozy den created before tiny paws and
she finally faced her mother with a pool of emotions swirling
around and around in her eyes. Anger, from how her mother had
treated the leader for a crime that wasn't illegal. Pity, for
the now young tiger that wanted a true love that only she was
allowed to hold and no one else. Sadness, for the past events
that couldn't ever disappear. But also guilt, for the way she
hated her mother over and over instead of talking about it
earlier.
Now that it had boiled inside her for a while, it had felt
almost impossible to forgive and go back to the innocent but
weird family they were before. And she was right, they would
never be pure again, but difficulties can make things better or
for worse depending on how to deal with it. She either had the
choice to become the grumbling and lonely cat wanting to scream
at her mother's mistake every second of the day, or she could
become the creative and calm feline she wanted to be. She wasn't
perfect either, and every wrong thought she made put her on the
same level of fault as her mother.
Balloonkit nodded mentally to herself and let a small but
meaningful smile touch her young face. "It's okay, Mom," she
replied, feeling relieved the say the title without hurting
inside. "I-I still love you." She silently stepped forward the
brush her cheek against the furry face of Innocence. "Go talk to
Dad," Balloonkit said, resting her paw on the bridge of her
nose.
