Dwarfedpaw flattened his big ears and groomed his brown, black,
and white. The son of Decembersnow, Coalstar, Springthaw, and
another cat Wolfy forgot, sighed and padded around. He was so
lonely most of the time, and he knew why. He looked like a mutt.
His fur was patterned as if it couldn't decide what color it
wanted to be, and his big ears made him look like an elephant.
Hmph. He didn't like it one bit.

Echoingpaw sat by her brother, yawning. She was bored and she
wanted something to do. So, she decided to see what her brother
was up to. "Hey Dwarfy! Whatcha doing?" she asked.

Dwarfed squeaked and flattened his ears as much as he could,
shrinking into a ball. He saw it was only his sister and gave a
sigh. "Nothing. I'm just critizing myself."

Her own ears flattened. "Dwarfy, don't do that to yourself. I
don't like it," Echoingpaw said, sitting in front of him and
touching her nose to her brother's. "You really need to cheer
up."
