She quickly licked the chicken off of her hand before it went
away and then looked around. Mable looked over at them for a
second before beginning to chase her tail.

'I know. But we couldn't leave a little puppy on the street, now
could we?" he reached for her, trying to pull her into a hug and
rock her back and forth.
Danny crawled out of bed, his blanket clamped in his head. He
crawled out of the room and over to the puppy, laying on the
floor and going back to sleep.

The puppy crawled over and squeezed herself under his head.
Mable didn't want his head to be sore when he woke up.

She was pulled in for a hug, and smiled. "Well, I guess not."
She had not noticed that Danny had come downstairs and fell
asleep next to the puppy, but when she did, she would put him on
the couch, so he could sleep next to the puppy, but not on the
uncomfortable floor.
Mel squirmed in her crib, still asleep.
