I agree with all on here especially our Rochdale resident TVOS;-
(very very sorry edited out can't say that sorry)
What I find ironic is an interview with Phil Neville on sky
sports earlier saying how “the heart of the community has been
ripped out!” As a local bury lad, why didn’t he his brother and
the rest of the class of 92 but our bury fc instead of wasting
it all on pipe dreams with Salford city - a natural and
long-lasting non league club!!???

Because they knew it would be money down the drain and because
it's their money and they can spend it how they choose.
Obviously, they had the intelligence to stay well clear.
Controversially, it was also their father, Neville Neville, who
introduced Day to the club after he apparently "walked in off
the street", while their mother, Jill Neville, as Bury
secretary, no doubt oversaw all the huge contracts being given
out and debts being accrued left, right and centre.
Unfortunately, Neville Neville isn't around to state his case,
but one has to question the role played by those two in this
sorry saga.

It's lesson most of us learn very early on in life. If something
is portrayed as being grandiose so that it seems too good to be
true...then it is too good and isn't true. Passionate fans of a
football club crave success and so are susceptible to the wiles
of those who promise the earth and then inevitably fail to
deliver. I feel sorry for the fans of Bury FC; it's an awful
thing to happen to a club you support but I think eventually the
writing on the wall goes on for so long that you run out of
wall. That is what has happened and I think they are best to
start from the beginning again on a much more modest though
sound footing and by good management seek to rise through the
divisional ranks. It's no good chucking good money after bad,
that ultimately gets you nowhere and a proud history is exactly
just that, it doesn't give you any special pleading rights

I have absolute sympathy with Bury fans, this really shouldn't
happen and it is devastating when it does. But this has been an
accident waiting to happen for many clubs now and it was only a
matter of time.
To suggest that wealthier clubs should bail them out is wrong in
my opinion. Someone who loses their house because they can't
pay the mortgage isn't bailed out by their richer next door
neighbour, it just doesn't happen. Clubs need to learn to live
within their means and until that is done calamities like this
will unfortunately keep happening.

Why shouldn't they spend their money how they like? I believe
Salford is certainly the local club of Scholes anyway. Salford
(unlike Bury?) are currently a Football League club.

Do you not think the Bury fans have been let down badly by the
EFL who claim to maintain checks and balances to ensure that
people who are not fit and proper don't get to own Football
League clubs. In respect of Day and Dale, just how unfit and
improper do you have to get to fall foul of their criteria ?

They have, but they have also let themselves down in so many
ways, as I posted.
Ryan Lowe's protestations on The Debate on Sky at the moment
show how that place is infested by ostriches!

Clubs like Bury are one of the biggest sources of employment in
the local community and without that now, you really do wonder
how Bury as a whole, not just the club, will survive.

Clubs like Bury aren't the biggest source of employment in the
local community. There is a massive brand new shopping centre
that will employ double their staff, not to mention the market,
schools, colleges, etc.
I agree with you about PL clubs not bailing them out. Bury need
to look at models used elsewhere and start living in the real
world.

The problem is that when the PL started receiving the increased
levels of money from Sky etc the lower league clubs decided that
they wanted a piece of the pie (possibly not unreasonably) and
so started asking for higher transfer fees. The players and
their agents also wanted a piece of the pie. Unfortunately for
them you could buy players of a better (international level) or
similar quality from abroad and with lower wage demands and so
the PL started shopping abroad.
