Maybe they're out in Europe midweek and flying from Heathrow?

It seems the Select Group referees love travelling - last
weekend Graham Scott went from Oxford to London and back and
then from Oxford to London and back again the following day!
Gillett seems a good choice for VAR duties considering its use
in Australia. Good to see Madley get a PL game.
I thought Taylor did perfectly well on Man Utd V Chelsea but
would rather have seen someone else (Kavanagh?) get Liverpool V
Arsenal just to spread it around a bit more.
I wonder who will get Arsenal V Spurs next week. Dean will have
done Arsenal and Spurs already this season (incidentally, is
this Dean's first Spurs game since the Pochettino outburst that
led to the ban last season?), Atkinson and Taylor have done
Arsenal, Oliver and Kavanagh have done Spurs... Marriner, Pawson
       or Moss perhaps?
       [/quote]
       My guess would be Marriner.
However - could be totally wrong...

Would have to be a Wednesday game in Europe due to the 48hrs
between kick off times rule but then they would travel back from
Europe on the Thursday am & would not be granted a 2 night stay
at a hotel for the game on Saturday.

I don't think it is necessarily that bad. Cheshire to Liverpool
isn't exactly a journey, and even Northumbria to Liverpool isn't
a horrendous drive. How bad it is the following day depends on
the travel plans, if Beswick was made to drive all the way back
from Anfield to home on Saturday evening and then down to
Stockley Park and back on Sunday then that would be ridiculous.
But I'm sure there will either be an overnight stay or, given
the proximity of Stockley Park to Heathrow, flights involved.

It’s been in use in Australia since 07/04/17, so he’s probably
one of the most accustomed to it.

Whilst I appreciate that Graham Scott came a cropper on this
commute, Oxford to London and back (and West London at that)
twice in a weekend is not the most onerous of trips. Many of us
refereeing lower down the food chain frequently travel similar
distances for a midweek evening kick off after a day at work.
In a past life I commuted double the distance from Oxford to
London five days a week by car at rush hour times.

I know that it isn't the most arduous of journeys but obviously
it is not ideal for referees lower down the pyramid to be
travelling to midweek games after work. I thought the whole
point of referees going professional was to ensure better
preparations and a more professional approach.

Simon Hooper has been getting games

He must have been in Australia for an exchange. This is a FFA
Cup Rd 32 match from 31/07. He's even wearing bmb's favourite
       colour :P

       Shocking behaviour!
So that is actually him? I didn't watch as you very kindly gave
the yellow warning! I know we do a few exchanges but didn't know
we did one in Australia. Mihaly Fabian, ex FIFA ref from
Hungary is high up in the Australian Referee ivory towers. He
might be head of refereeing actually. Really lovely guy and imo
       a loss to Hungarian football.
