West Ham United (First Team) v Manchester City FC (First Team)
       Premier League
       Referee: Dean, Michael
       Assistant Referee: Cann, Darren
       Assistant Referee: Robathan, Daniel
       Fourth Official: Ward, Gavin
       Video Assistant Referee: Coote, David
Additional Video Assistant Referee: Child, Stephen
I see on twitter that VAR over ruled Man City's 3rd goal as
       Sterling was offside.

More interesting was the penalty retaken for the goalkeeper off
his line. I thought the EPL was ignoring this law!!! I say well
done whoever decided to tell Mr Dean, he has done his
colleagues, and teams playing in UEFA competitions, a great
service as all games will now need to be checked for this
       infringement.
For the record I think this law is a farce but league's cannot
pick and choose which LOAF's they want and don't want.

It was actually because Declan Rice encroached into the penalty
area and was the first player to play the ball from the rebound.

Fair enough. I couldn't hear the commentary in the public house
I was in. Presumption on my part. Shame though on account of
       what I said above

Had to be the card shark from the Wirral getting the first tv
signal... albeit it was subdued for his usual theatrical
       standards!

Looks to me like there was a Man City player encroaching on the
far side of the box - at a similar distance to Rice. Surely game
should have been allowed to continue!?

An encroachment from each team means a re-take regardless of
outcome ....... or have they changed that too ?

Whilst I agree that offside isn't up for interpretation, as
you're either offside or not; I would argue though, that if you
need 3D images of the upper body of the players to determine if
a player is offside by millimeters shouldn't the benefit of
doubt be given to whatever decision was made at pitch level?
It didn't look like a clear and obvious error to me.

I thought, because a situation is either onside or offside (so
it's not subjective), it doesn't come under the clear or obvious
ruling whereas a penalty or red card does.
