Expected appointments - don’t know much about Ruchira
Palliyagurugue but good luck to him on his ashes debut!

More of a spread of umpires than we usually get - I remember
when Koertzen would do three matches!

I'm surprised the ICC haven't issued official confirmation but
surely this shows that S Ravi is indeed leaving the Elite panel
to be replaced by Joel Wilson.
Mainly expected appointments, but I can't help feel that Ruchira
Palliyaguruge is the surprise amongst the pack. He has only
officiated in 2 test matches up to this point so I really hope
that he has an excellent match!

Based on current appointments can we say that Marais and Kumar
are seen as the best non English/ Aussie umpires???

I notice these appointments have been removed from the ICC
website - is there any significance in that?

The ICC have made some slight changes to the Ashes appointments.
I've updated the original post accordingly.

With those changes, Aleem Dar will equal the world record (128
set by Steve Bucknor) for number of test matches as an on field
umpire

Dar gives two wrong decisions in his first two overs.
Fails to give Warner out edging down leg side and then giving
him out LBW when going down leg, neither reviewed!

I would consider Dar to be one of the best umpires in the series
(second only to Erasmus). Doesn't exactly inspire much
confidence in the umpiring for this series.
