So the lowdown from this weekend...
Vad (red shirt) - apart from the missed penalty in Liláks favour
when they were only 1-0 down he was kind of ok. Left his cards
in the dressing room 1st half so didn't bother booking anyone! I
had actually made that as a sarcastic comment after one the
Lilák players had received the old clothesline chop across the
neck with no sanction but then later in the half on yet another
yellow card offence, he patted his top pocket, then back pocket,
shrugged and carried on with no card shown! He was weak,
inconsistent and his decision making was completely and utterly
random. I have no idea what was or wasn't a foul in the game.
He was fit though & kept up with play! He was also marginally
better than my team who failed to turn up for the match at all &
completely deserved the 3-1 drubbing.
Erdős József (black shirt) - Has lost yet more weight & was
looking very trim. Good on him. Positioning was decent and it
therefore followed that so was his decision making. He is one
that when he gets into the right position gets his calls right &
positioning has often been his weak point. Pleased to see him
making a good start to the season. He was consistent throughout
to both teams.
Bogár Gergő (red shirt) - Very strong performance from this
young man. Fitness excellent, positioning very good, decision
making consistent & decent. Strong on discipline, was not
afraid to make the calls or show cards when needed. He showed
the 1st yellow of the season & a correct call it was as well.
Waved away a pen shout right near the end, handball shout,
defender had moved his arms out of the way, behind his back
actually, but it still caught him from short range as the
striker blasted it at him. 100% the right call for me. I
foresee a white badge in his future as soon as a spot becomes
available.
Solymosi Péter (looking awesome in blue) - Looking very fit & no
trouble keeping up with play. His decision making was decent
enough & consistent but he was let down by Kóbor Péter in the
1st half. He had a dreadful 1st half & was caught at least 3
feet behind play on at least 4/5 occasions. Not like him, he's
normally a very reliable AR. Bit of controversy around
Kapsovár's 2nd goal, Kóbor was about 5 feet behind play at the
time. Vidi bench went mental at him & Solymosi Péter looked
furious with him!! As it turned out when watching the 300
replays at half time it did look as if he had got away with it.
2 players were clearly in offside positions as the ball came in,
1 was onside only by about 1-2cm & he was the player who scored
so it was a valid goal. Correct call reached simply by luck as
the man required to make the judgement was well out of position.
He'll be disappointed with himself for that 1st half. Now
whether that was the wake up call he needed or he got a bit of a
roasting from the lovely Mr S at half time I don't know but he
was much better in the 2nd half. More alert & his positioning
was far better. He's a great young AR normally, he will have
learned from it & I'm sure will be relieved that the only player
in an onside position as the ball was played was the one to
score! Nothing really in the 2nd half, 3 bookings for the new
team as their frustration started to kick in a bit and Vidi
deserved the win.
Bognár (black shirt) - After Bogár getting in the 1st YC of the
season, Bognár got it the 1st and 2nd pens of the season! Both
correct calls, one for each team. Seems to be regaining his
confidence after losing it when he made THAT call as Kassai's
AAR last season & a solid performance from him today. Consistent
with both teams & good to see him back on the up. Same can't be
said for Kispest who looked awful in Europe & again today! How
anyone can class N'Gog as a striker is beyond me!
Roll on my extra #SolymosiWatch in Europe this week!

#SolymosiWatch is on my team as well!! Mr Puhl must like me this
week!!! [emoji122]
Viktor might be on holiday as his wife was at the WWC. She
hasn't been on any games yet either, since then. They didn't
really get a close season yet again! He did a lot of football
related things over the summer, the Egri Erbstein final, helping
Erős Gábor at the Komárom summer training camp in Tata and
last week of course he was away at the UEFA summer camp to name
just a couple, he always does a few charity games across the
summer as well. As far as I am aware he's not refereed in Saudi
yet, unless he was there Thurs/Fri. Last game I am aware he did
professionally at least was as 4th official on the Portugal v
Switzerland in the UEFA nations League on 5th July. I did see
him at the Hungary v Wales game back in June. I was in the press
box and he was sat just in front to the left of us! He was only
watching of course but it was good to see our best ref cheering
on the national team!
As for the other one, long may that continue!!!!! [emoji56]
There are 3 games on Sunday so the appointments will be out for
them about 4pm today.
Roll on #SolymosiWatch, he'll be the same end as the beautiful
György. It's a decent 3rd team on our game, just have to hope
that Mr beautiful has kicked our players butts every day this
week and they realise that the season has started, they
certainly didn't last week & failed to turn up for the game!!
Hajrá Neboja! One day I will manage to get a photo of him &
Péter together, my 2 favourites!

So today's ramblings.
Berke Balázs - great game from this young man. Man management
decent, foul detection decent, consistent, fitness excellent,
great rapport with the players. He is by far the best all round
ref of the 3 young FIFA referees (Farkas & Karakó being the
other 2 younger ones). Absolutely nothing to comment on!
Farkas has a reasonable game, mostly. Pen shout by Lilák that he
correctly waved away. 4 bookings, 3 of them for my team that
were all absolutely spot on. Most of his decision making was
decent & an acceptable level of consistency. Fitness is superb,
great positioning but he made a dreadful key match error that
was game changing. Branko slid in to try and kick the ball out
towards the touchline, mistimed the whole thing and it shimmied
off of his shin towards the goalie instead. It was in no way a
deliberate back pass, the player didn't kick it, it bounced off
of him as he slid by and I think Mr Farkas is going to be very
disappointed with himself when he sees it back, the goalie
picked it up because he knew it wasn't a deliberate back pass
and Farkas blew up and gave an indirect free kick on the goal
area line. Extremely poor decision. A goal was subsequently
scored and it went from 1-0 to Lilák to 1-1. Just dreadful &
directly altered the course of the game. Thankfully lilák got a
winner and what a peach of a goal it was as well! 7.9 for him
due to the game changing error. He also booked our coach, mid
way through the second half. I can't comment on if it was right
ot not because Neboja is my friend, someone I care a lot about
& it's not a decision I can look at without a huge amount of
bias! I don't think therefore it is right for me to comment on
it. Neboja was quite animated at times though and spoke to the
4th official several times so maybe he said something out of
order. I'm speaking to him now & he's not commented on it even
though I have moaned about it 3 times so far!! Whatever he said
or did in training though this week worked, our team were
dreadful last week and that is being kind - completely different
team turned up today & they were absolutely superb! DVTK is a
great place to go, the stadium is gorgeous and the fans there
are brilliant. Very noisy, very passionate but also very
friendly. It was a brilliant game to watch. Just tainted a bit
by that one dreadful decision.
I will add as a general thing - We need to get Berke promoted to
category 2 from next Jan, imo he is the one who should be taking
over the elite spot when Kassai retires. Such a natural referee.
Very fair and honest ref on the pitch, his knowledge &
application of the LOTG is just superb. He does still make some
silly mistakes but he is still developing. Time is running out,
next year is Kassais official last year although I suspect he
will get a +1 year if not 2 x +1 years. Farkas is the only one
in a position currently to take over but he is far too
inconsistent still & there is no Category 1 spot open in any
event. I'd bin Vad, we need to free up a Category 1 spot &
Bognár is head & shoulders ahead of him. He had a superb game in
Denmark on Thursday with the important Russian observer, Krill
someone. I'm pretty certain a high mark & great report will have
gone back to UEFA ivory towers. I'd also bin Karakó, there are
too many question marks over his integrity after the incident
with Király last season, like Andó-Szabó before him he is not
going anywhere in UEFA terms. He is far too error prone &
inconsistent as well. There is/was potential there but he's
simply not developing & trust in him is understandably gone due
to that dreadful uproar with Király. I'd promote Berke to
category 2, and have him working with Viktor to learn from him,
appoint Viktor as his mentor. Stick him on Viktor's team as an
AAR but also have Viktor as his AAR to help guide him. His EL
debut, he was amazing, was so proud of him. Flawless
performance. I'd then give Bogár Gergő & Pillók Ádám their
white badges in category 3 to replace Vad & Karakó. Neither are
probably ready yet to be fair, Bogár is ahead in developmental
terms, he is a superb young referee. They would benefit so much
from the additional UEFA training as well, both are quick
learners & I can see them developing quickly with that added
guidance. I'd actually appoint Solymosi Péter as an added coach
to them domestically, he's near the end of his career so prolong
it & have him as AAR to them in games, let him work with them
off the pitch as well. The wise old head from a steady if not
spectacular ref. I know he is a qualified observer because he
has done a game in the NB3 although the rules have changed and
you can't observe now while still active. Good opportunity to
develop him as a coach for when he does hang up his whistle,
he'd be a huge asset to the MLSz.
So if someone from the MLSz JB is reading here - how about it?
Let's get developing the youth now, we have some good potential
there & half a dozen superb young AR's who already have their
FIFA badges. We have enough to get 3 brilliant match official
teams going, 1 elite team & 2 category 1 teams. I'm quite
excited about what the future could hold for our refs with these
youngsters coming through but we need to start developing them
at the next level now. Bognár & Vad both retire the year after
Viktor, or the same time as him if he has a +1 year.
Edy what is our allocation in terms of Cat 2 & 3? I know we have
6 in total, 1 elite, 2 Cat 1 but not sure on the Cat 2 & 3 make
up for the other 3?

Elite: Victor Kassai
1st Group: Tamas Bognár, Istvan Vad.
2nd Group: Ádám Farkas
3rd Group: Balázs Berke, Ferenc Karakó
Berke is new FIFA with only 6 months on the list. He is very
difficult to be promoted on 2nd group. It is more likely next
summer as long as he continues a good development (that means
more appointments on the league).
I agree about Vad. He should be demoted. Or removed from the
list to open space. He never recovered from the mistake on Euro
2012. Bognar is definitely no2 now.

Elite: Victor Kassai
1st Group: Tamas Bognár, Istvan Vad.
2nd Group: Ádám Farkas

Can we have 2 at Cat 2 & 1 at Cat 3, was more what I meant by in
terms of what is our allocation. I know we currently have 2 Cat
3 & 1 Cat 2.
Berke should have been promoted instead of Karakó, who is not
fit to lace his boots for him. Never did understand why an
unknown NB2 ref was given his white badge ahead of a really
exciting youngster. He'd been on the FIFA list 2 months before
he was promoted to the NB1 & he is dreadful 9/10! Watching him
now & he has been completely ineffective & weak again. He has
allowed my team to foul Remili about 30 times so far & not even
a word, clear dive from Batik - nothing. It's like watching an
amateur league referee.
You're right on Vad. There again I have always considered Bognár
ahead of him, even pre his huge error in 2012!
