ICC Elite panel

With the imminent retirement of Ian Gould, I would expect the
ICC to announce the changes to the elite panel soon after the
conclusion of the World Cup.
Firstly, who do people think will replace ‘Gunner’? Appointments
suggest that Joel Wilson is the favourite, and I don’t think his
performance in the tournament has harmed his chances. I’ve not
watched any games umpired by Michael Gough but again
appointments would suggest he’s certainly under consideration.
IMO, both Palliyaguruge and Paul Wilson have proven throughout
the tournament that they are nowhere near ready for promotion to
the elite panel.
At the other end of the conundrum, will Gould be the only umpire
to leave the panel? A newspaper in India suggests that the
decision has already been made to remove S Ravi after finishing
bottom of the merit table for the past two years (I think this
would Ben incredibly harsh as he is nowhere near the worst
umpire IMO!) Some elite officials have had some abysmal
performances in this World Cup. Chris Gaffaney, Richard
Kettleborough and Richard Illingworth spring instantly to mind,
with several other officials hardly having tournaments to
remember! Is now a good time for ICC to have a clear out working
towards the next World Cup? Or does the lack of replacements
show that international umpiring is not in a particularly good
state of health and something needs to be sorted drastically?

Wonder how Ravi feels as I gather he has been bottom of the
merit/markings table for a while now and not been able to turn
it round
