Farai Hallam - Manchester United v Brighton - EFL Cup

A nice game for Hallam to do here and so far, so good.
Farai Hallam is a real star in the refereeing firmament. He has
a presence and a quiet authority on the pitch, his positioning
is excellent and he reads the play very well and the players
seem to respect him, considering his ex professional playing
background.
Also I like the fact that he allows the physical side of the
game to have some life and allows the match to flow well.
Hallam had an excellent year last year in his debut season in
the top flight and has a real aptitude for the job at the top
table. Look forward to seeing more of him as the season
progresses.

Totally agree. Standout moment for me was when Heaven went down
near his own defensive goal line expecting one of those cheap
defensive free kicks but Hallam wasn’t having any of it and just
let play continue. I hope more referees take note of that.

Tonight has only reaffirmed my belief that Hallam will be going
right to the top of the officiating ladder. 2026 has been a year
of firsts for Hallam including his PL debut and the next few
seasons will see him as an established premier league referee.
I’d love to see him get more PL games in the next block before
the November Int’l break.
I’d even go as far to say he’s better than most in formerly SG1.
A very very talented referee.

Great work by Hallam overall. Decisions good and accurate,
positioning and fitness excellent, not too matey with the
players but has the balance right. There were very few arguments
or dissent over any of his decisions this evening.
All cautions correctly administered, including one for time
wasting.
Agree with TA Ref that he is better than most of the current
crop of the top flight referees. Handled a good cup tie with
effortless ease.

I agree regarding Hallam , again no complaints about team ref or
the result as for Utd ….sighs they just gone back in time to the
Ten Hag era

Every time I see Farai Hallam referee I am more and more
convinced he is the real deal. If he can stay free of injury or
mishap then I predict a stellar future for him.

Staying injury-free is a must for Farai. We saw what happened
with Josh Smith, injury completely killed his what seemed like
almost certain SG1 promotion. Injuries are horrid things!!

He is undoubtedly the real deal, I saw him when he was younger
and just starting out at step 5 and he was exceptional. He has
all of the facets to become the top English referee.

Barring any unfortunate mishap, when gazing into Whistleblower's
crystal ball I see the top English referees in seven or eight
years time as being Farai Hallam, Sam Barrott and possibly
Ruebyn Ricardo. Of course, there may be another bright star
about to burst onto the firmament about whom, as yet, we know
little.

I would add that I hope the tutelage of these future stars is of
the desired quality and calibre.
We’ve seen in the past that the raw talent is part of the
process, but if the schooling and mentoring is not on point, it
can be very detrimental.
