C PAWSON - Forest v Tottenham

Haven’t seen any footage as I’m currently 35000 ft above
Slovenia at the moment, but I see on the bbc website that there
seems to be a lot of grumbles about VAR coming in and getting
involved to disallow a Forest goal for handball?
Was it correct?

After 18 hours and watching hundreds of replays I’m not sure ,
so that is probably clear and obvious as far as var is concerned

Just about the perfect summary of the competency of our
officials to use technology.

Not sure about clear and obvious. It is a matter of fact. Did
the ball touch the player's arm or not? I guess if VAR sees
something he cannot unsee it.
Silly law imho but you have work with it. IMHO, Forest were
unlucky.

Is it clearly and obviously a matter of fact?! Not a criticism…I
genuinely don’t know.

Maybe Forest fans and manager should apologise. Furthermore,
before you speak check your facts or give credit to var. The
footage I have seen this morning on Sky from the in goal camera
clearly shows Williams handled the ball causing a significant
deflection. I guess this was available to var.
Interesting though that var have access to images SKY don't. I
must remember that next time!

Not quite. From Ref Watch this morning, the additional footage
was from a "tactical camera" that VAR does not have access to.

I noticed that on Ref Watch. What is interesting is that if you
follow the incident through logically, if it didn't hit
Williams' right arm, missed his head then what did it it? The
only answer is his left arm and when you look at the incident
from the other side you can see the ball move the other way
having hit Williams' left hand. When you see that, you cannot
unsee it. Praise to VAR here and I understand from Dale
Johnson's comment on the BBC Sport page that ProRef are very
unhappy at the criticism directed at the VAR, believing the
decision was right. Of course Tactical Cam proves it. I guess
that as VAR is so disliked by so many it is easy to criticise it
but the truth is that it is right far more times than wrong and
is an easy subject for unhappy supporters to have a pop at. Well
done Peter Bankes.
So following the West Bromwich incident Williams, will he be
suspended for 2 games for trying to deceive the referee? The
only reason he said it hit his head was to avoid an FA charge? I
joke because I can quite believe that Williams couldn't
accurately recall what happened and he comes across as a sincere
young man.
