Not at his best tonight imo. Inconsistent foul detection and not
sure where 8mins added time came from.
Thought maatsen challenge at end was a penalty too but need to
       watch it back

We had an Arsenal goal, subs, pen overturn (according to
Flashscores, I didn’t see it live), Arsenal injury that was 2
mins. I see all the reasons for 8 mins. My guess was 7.
Awful whistle Gillett has too. Sounded broke!

He didn’t have a particularly good game but it wasn’t a bad one
either. Villa fans won’t be happy with all the waved away
penalty appeals but the strongest shout was on Bruno in injury
       time.

Stoppage time is always accurate as the 4th official keeps a
log. Graham Scott was on talkSPORT today and he revealed that
the referee has no way of stopping his watch, one of them
doesn't have a stopwatch or timer on it and the other can't be
stopped. Timing is all done by the 4th official, he will tell
the referee with a couple of minutes to go in each half how long
he is going to signal and unless the referee objects that is
       what will go up.
In this case we had 8 substitutions, a VAR check that turned a
penalty into a free kick, and Mosquera was down being treated
for 2 minutes. I don't see any issue with 8 minutes.

Just another 8 mins for people to fall over too easily from what
       I saw.
And unless I’m very mistaken, I’m sure I saw Sam Barrott raise
two boards being filled in by the clubs? Around 70 mins when I
       joined it…

I thought he was ok. Didn't fall for some of the theatrics of
Havertz or the Villa players down the other end. Replays seem to
suggest he/Bell missed the penalty late on as the Villa defender
appears to clearly sweep away Guimares' leg with his right leg,
before then playing the ball with his left leg, but that's it
really. Got cautions correct. Thought 8 minutes was generous,
but what you expect away from home 1-0 down so not too bothered
       by that.

       hi,
i'm normally very supportive of JG and his style but last
night's performance was quite bizarre. foul detection seemed
well off with the booking of tzolis unbelievably soft,
especially considering what went unpunished later in the game -
john mcginn was very combative to say the least. decision making
seemed slow and unsure at times, and gave the impression that he
was often in doubt himself. the late foul on guimaraes would
routinely be a penalty viewed from any angle. countdown for
throws, goal kicks etc was sporadic to say the least. the 8
minutes of added time could comfortably be described as
       'extravagant'.
all 3 teams will have far better performances this season.
       regards,
       gnr

Bad news for Gillett and VAR Bell - the KMI panel unanimously
saw this as a mistake on field to not award a penalty for the
Maatsen foul, as well as unanimously believing this should have
led to an on field review.
