Craig Pawson - Man Utd v Ipswich

First of many occasions where the silly requirement to blow the
whistle before starting the 5 second countdown causes confusion.
Players from both teams stopped as the Ipswich player took the
throw as Pawson blew his whistle.

Typical low-key Pawson performance. Accurate in most things in
his usual calm manner. No penalty call on Tielemans definitely
       correct - arguably could’ve cautioned for simulation. I didn’t
think the challenge that Lukic got booked for was a yellow in
isolation but he was fortunate to avoid one a few minutes
       earlier for a SPA offence.

Why is that going to stand? That’s immediate impact.

Another instance of man utd getting goals given after a goal
scored in the immediate aftermath of hitting a hand, last time
it was confirmed to be wrong and wouldnt happen again

On commentary, they said the goal stands because it's an own
goal. I think that's a massive flaw in the rules. I think even
if it's an own goal the shot should be cancelled out because of
the handball, therefore not deflecting into the net. A
nonsensical flaw in the rules, in my opinion.

The only question is whether or not maguire deliberately handles
it which i believe he doesn't and as he wasn't the one who
scored it then the goal should stand but i can understand why
people think it shouldn't and will definitely be something that
is clarified in the future about when an own goal is scored in
that matter after a possible handball by the attacker.

I agree, once again a grey area in the rules leaving no one to
know what should happen. The simple fact of this incident is
that Maguire accidentally handballed it which immediately let to
a shot which led to a goal. To me, that falls under the rules of
immediate impact. If VAR doesn’t know, which they should, then I
suppose they must go with the referees decision.

Think the Maguire decision was correct by law although Ipswich
(obviously) won't be happy. Penalty/yellow correct decision.

Maguire didn't score. The Ipswich player scored and so I believe
the goal should be given. I think, ignoring the LOTG, it is
right as Maguire accidentally handled the ball and I dislike the
accidental handball leading directly to a goal.
This interesting incident shouldn't hide the fact that Ipswich
imploded badly and that United found their mojo, at least for
today. And as I type, Ipswich score a second...
