You put your arm out like that you take a massive gamble. A
penalty was consistent with what has been given all season so
there can't really be any complaints.

You could just as easily that BT Sport has more than its fair
share of ex-Spurs players, Hoddle and Jenas in this case (or, on
other occasions, ex-Man United players in Scholes, Ferdinad,
       Hargreaves...)

enjoyable game for the neutral. however, this is the way that
modern football seems to be going with lots of passes across the
back four, sometimes taking over a dozen passes to get over the
halfway line but it does look good on the possession statistics.

Surely you have to go back further than 2013 then if that had 19
       and last night's had 11?
It is true that modern football has become much more possession
based, although we have seen some of the best Champions League
games/moments that I can remember this season - yesterday wasn't
       one of them though!

I agree with most of the above comments. Readingfan in
particular makes the very valid point - what if the penalty had
not been awarded and particularly if Spurs had won? I think
Skomina was brave to point to the spot so early in the game,
notwithstanding that he had VAR to back him up. A prime example
of the benefits of VAR if ever there was one. My one concern was
about an issue raised by the BT pundits - will we see players
deliberately aiming to strike a defender's arm from next season
to get a penalty? Is there an answer to this?

After my difficulties in referring to fans without shirts as
****, I wonder what Rusty's **** was? The word which seems to
fit the sense is "risk" - but that is obviously not censored.
All very mysterious! Perhaps it was "****." Ah! Good job that
what lambs do has a different spelling.

       I'm sure I typed risk …
… but I hadn't long been awake so could have had a typo. Must
have been a fairly major one though as I can't think of a word
close to risk that would kick off the censor ..!

But I don't ever recall the great Anders Frisk triggering the
censor! Pray what did you have to drink last night to celebrate,

I reckon the risk implied a trip to the betting shop. Sheep may
safely graze ... and lambs may safely gambol.

Was out with two Liverpool fans, so I may have joined in their
celebrations. I know what I was drinking, but if you asked me
how much of it I had consumed the answer would be much more
       vague …

Yes, for some reason US based servers have an issue with
g.amble, although it may be based on their restrictive g.ambling
       laws.

Rather than it not being a boring game because both teams were
below par, do you not think the fact it was their first game in
3 weeks (I think), played a big part in what the spectacle ended
       up being?
