Peter Bankes - Brighton v Aston Villa

So we have the first trip to the screen of the season, and I
think it’s a correct involvement from Matt Donohue. The replays
clearly show the kick out, something which I think Bankes would
not be able to pick up on field given his position in relation
to the incident and the fact the ball had gone. Not an easy
first half to officiate but I think Bankes has done well. The
early yellow cards helped.

Correct decision and Emery should have subbed Gomes earlier as
he had already got away with a foul worse than the one Ayari was
booked for after the yellow for the imaginary card.

Bankes saw it as played advantage. Gomes should have been off
before then for a poor challenge.
Typical bankes performance. Hard line, consistent and good use
of cards

He’s literally looking straight at the incident, perfect
position, great view - signals play on advantage so clearly sees
the incident !

I think he sees the initial foul, but the kick out action would
be blind side of him in relation to where the players bodies are
