So tonight its Cardiff v Wrexham, both playing in their normal
kits.
Cardiff, blue shirts, white shorts, blue socks with white top
Wrexham, red shirts, white shorts, white socks
However, players seem now to play with white ankle socks and
then sleeves of the proper socks. There is also a Cardiff player
that appears to have his socks rolled down only just covering
the mini shin pad. So it does seem that there is potential for a
clash of white legs which in this era of when we worry about
goalkeepers wearing the same colours seems unnecessary.

Nice to see teams in their first choice kits imho. Good game to
watch, excellent finish to the game but Cardiff, again imho,
have work to do.
As for the referee, struggling to see why Moore was booked for a
pull back on the defender. Kitchen, a fine referee generally,
does seem to make the odd decision. At least in my eyes.

In Rugby Union, players are often yellow carded for "cynical"
offences. They are not over physical but deliberate acts to
impede an opponent kill the game (deliberate knock-on, hands in
the ruck, etc.).
In Association Football, pulling and opponent back is equally
cynical and equally deliberate. Natural justice says that it
should always be a yellow card (even if the Law does not
specificaly say so).

The issue I had with the Moore booking was that a similarly
cynical pull back was not yellow carded. This business of
pulling back players leaves me confused as to what is and what
isn't a yellow card. I should point out that this isn't about
stopping a promising attack but a deliberate pull back in open
play but which doesn't stop a promising attack. I am confused
but it is taking us away from the subject of socks!

Bear with me, I am about to start a new topic entitled “Cynical
Pull-Backs” (if I don’t completely mess up the process, that
is!) so that this important debate can continue without getting
the “Socks” muddied . . .

Moore's caution wasn't for a pull, it was for barging into the
defender off the ball. I thought it was a bit soft personally,
but the referee obviously felt he wasn't looking at the ball and
rather was just battering the defender. Can't help think that
his reputation may have gone before him a little.
