You are right that they do not have enought officials - but they
should have.
The comparison with players only goes so far. Players have
their entire working lives arranged for them - they just turn up
and do what they are told. Not the same with match offivials.

Is it that different? OK, there are no private jets, but I
would guess they get told what flights they are on, turn up at
the airport, get picked up at the other end, get put up in a
decent hotel, everything is organised for them.

I know the old SG1 and SG2 has been superseded but in the realm
of what ifs, if the old categories were still extant then I have
no doubt Farai Hallam would be in SG1 this season. Whether any
other of the old SG2 cohort would have made the move up I do not
know.
I would suggest that the two referees who are making a solid,
swift and sure rise to the topmost rungs of the ladder are
Samuel Barrott and Farai Hallam. Of course, Barrott is still
ahead of Hallam in terms of experience but I think they are
going to be the two top referees in England, possibly joined by
John Brooks though his ascent seems to have slightly stalled
recently through injury. Just below them I think we will find
Thomas Bramall and possibly Rob Jones though I am less certain
about the latter. I believe Ruebyn Ricardo and Tom Kirk have
huge seasons ahead of them as they seek to establish themselves
in the upper echelons and I think they are very likely to
succeed.

Just watched the Liverpool penalty back for me it’s a soft
penalty claim, for me the player went looking for the foul and
made contact with the Newcastle player would like to see what
others think in here
