Only one viewing at Cambridge last season but had a good game in
one of his first EFL fixtures. Ollie didn’t have a great review
       in Bradford’s cup game recently.

I watched Doncaster v Barnsley this lunchtime, a game which
somehow finished goalless. Not much to report although David
Webb’s decision making was a little bit random and he didn’t
effectively deal with delaying the restart in my opinion. Around
82 minutes, the Barnsley keeper was allowed to play on despite
it looking like the ball had gone out for a corner. I look
forward to his 2 game ban…

Back in the hotel from the Yeovil game. 3-0 for the home side.
Mr Aspinall Handing Yellow cards today like confetti handing 8
yellows cards out some match report that to fill out. Few
decisions which I seen from away live which weren’t fouls let
alone yellow cards linesmen on our near side didn’t help him
with foul detection on we go to Friday night for Solihull moors
i expecting Mr Rhodes for that game

Ben Speedie also handing out 8 yellows yesterday for Luton v
Notts, 5 for the home side.
Notts were clearly trying to get in Luton’s faces but the yellow
       card threshold wasn’t particularly high.
I thought that referees were employing a less is more mentality?
If you go on social media, you’ll see a second handball penalty
not given to Luton in the second half. Per the laws, it’s not
handball, but I think it proves that the law still doesn’t work.
He is looking the other direction and is jumping, but it’s hit
his hand about 1 foot above his head and the ball has gone the
other direction. In my opinion he has gained an advantage.
Also, what is the point of having stricter restart rules if
they’re never enforced? The players sensed that he was going to
       be lenient very early on.

He was fine, didn’t affect the outcome anyway, although I’d be
interested to know why our goalkeeper was booked for being
impeded when attempting to clear the ball. The Crawley player
who did the impeding was shown a yellow card in the same
incident, so to the fans it was a bit of a mystery.

Colchester United FC (First Team) v Oldham Athletic FC (First
       Team)
       Football League 2
       Referee: Durkin, James
       Assistant Referee: Fitch-Jackson, Carl
       Assistant Referee: D'Urso, Daniel
       Fourth Official: Rock, David
Wow, that was an eventful game! Two big talking points for James
Durkin and his team, which really changed the course of the
       game.
A first half dominated by Oldham, including a cracker of a goal,
ended with Gus Scott Morriss being shown a red card for a
dangerous tackle on Iandolo. It’s a really tough one to call,
the tackle itself is awful but I don’t think there’s much
contact. James had a great view and had no hesitation in
dismissing the Oldham defender. If you asked me to make the call
myself, i’d probably lean yellow card but Scott-Morriss can only
blame himself for the stamp-like motion.
The second half being 11 vs 10 went as you would expect with
Colchester dominating, with a big chance being handed to them
for a push by Temple on Williams, another decision for James,
who gave a penalty instantly. I’m happy with this decision, it’s
not the strongest bit of contact but enough for a penalty for
me. Temple didn’t have any complaints either.
As for the rest of the game, James took a very strict approach
with his cards, but I don’t mind that approach and it was
applied consistently to both teams throughout the game -
including a Norburn yellow for an accumulation, Hudson for not
staying on his line for the penalty and Nevitt for kicking the
ball away. He also was pretty fair with the 5 second countdown.
Oldham will feel hard done by but a poor decision by their
defender to give the officials a decision to make is where i’d
place blame. I’d have no qualms seeing James appointed to
another Colchester game in future. A very enjoyable start to the
home season with a late own goal sealing the win!
