With respect to Mr.Harrington, I would tend to agree that it
wasn't completely obvious that he was an elite official, but
ultimately he controlled the game well and if he would have been
a new official I would have said he showed promise so maybe I'm
arguing against myself....a question for our Bradford
contributor, what did you think about the frustrated late
challenge by Jackson that could very easily have led to a second
yellow but instead led to a long talking to by Mr Harrington
with your captian present?...interesting to note he was
       substituted before the end

I agree it could very easily have been a second yellow, as it
was very late and deliberate, but his first yellow was extremely
soft considering O’Connor wasn’t cautioned for a similar shirt
pulling offence higher up the pitch. I know it shouldn’t work
like that but maybe that was considered. He was subbed 5 mins
later, as next foul he probably would have been off.

Absolutely, one of those where the referee 'manages the
situation', well received by the majority but slightly
frustrating for those with a Peterborough bias...but it happens
every game at every level..in the cold light of day, it's early
in the season for the players so it must be for Mr Harrington,
and hopefully better things to come from all concerned
(especially Posh who over the last few years have looked no
where near the team they used to be)

Tranmere Rovers FC v Shrewsbury Town FC
       Football League 2
       Referee: O'Connor, Jamie
       Assistant Referee: Moore, Anthony
       Assistant Referee: Brooks, Jordan
       Fourth Official: Moss, Matthew
I don't know if Mr O'Connor was aware of his refereeing history
and the Shrews losing, but it seemed like a lot of the 50/50s
favoured the visitors in this match. There were also two
incidents which looked like fouls should have been called. The
first was when Rovers keeper Male appeared to be impeded going
to collect the ball, the resultant goal effort was headed off
the line, The other was more clear-cut for me, a tug on Ironside
as he broke away. A couple of minutes later he did give Ironside
a free-kick for a like offence, but in a less dangerous position
and with less force used, it felt a bit compensatory.
Shrewsbury felt they should have been awarded a penalty for a
foul on the edge of their box, but not seen any footage to
suggest that the free-kick he awarded was incorrect. There was a
flurry of bookings in the last twenty minutes. It wasn't clear
what Okoro had done to earn his, but the other four seemed
       fairly standard.
Overall there was good fitness and positioning from Mr O'Connor
and he seemed willing to chat and explain things to the players.
He didn't some across as quite so assured as in the same fixture
a year ago, but no key errors and he can probably feel fairly
       happy with his performance.
