Looking back at the last couple of years it often is a very
“safe” round of appointments for the opening weekend. The league
cup games gave some interesting appointments so hopefully that
can continue as the season progresses.

Especially with all six being on the TV. Hopefully they might
drop some of the up and coming ones who were in the league cup
next weekend. You'd have to think St Mirren v St Johnstone and
Motherwell v Falkirk are opportunities.

Given how the cup game against Dunfermline went, they maybe
shouldn’t send Sean Murdoch to Paisley though.

Do you think the SFA will eventually reinstate their referee
appointments page? I liked seeing what refs were refereeing in
the Lowland, West, South etc.
I notice their pumping appointments on their tok tok page but
very inconsistent there can be 5/6 games and they only list 2/3
appointments.
Ps/ Arab Ref you’re doing a great job publishing these. Many

The appointments page is back online now, however if an official
(I think at any level) doesn’t “Confirm” the appointment through
comet then they won’t publicly appear on the game. I trialled
this with a grassroots appointment I received and it certainly
worked for that, so I reckon it’s either the same, or similar,
across all levels.

Can I ask your thoughts on European/International appointments?
They seem quite few and far between. We have no Cat 1 and Don
Robertson seems to be languishing in Cat 2. I had hoped Mathew
McDermid would make some headway but his appointments-seem to
be fairly sporadic and thin on the ground. Not quite sure about
David Dickinson and the other newbies have some way to go.
Will Willie Collum make any progress within UEFA’s ranks now
he’s an Observer?
