The much loved hydration breaks seemed to render these redundant
during the WC. I'd like to see these introduced on a cold and
wet Tuesday evening in Walsall!!
Seriously, thery'll think of a way around this. If the
creativity of football coaches that focuses on getting around
Laws was ploughed into scoring goals, then the game would be a
lot better off.

I would: add if a goalkeeper needs treatment all his team’s
other players must stand in the centre circle and no one is
allowed on the pitch to speak to them.

My proposal would have been all players should have to stand in
their own penalty box whilst any player receives treatment, and
if a goalkeeper goes down unchallenged twice in one game then
that means they’re not fit to play and must be subbed off. Glad
they are trialing something though.

Whilst I agree, this only solves half the problem. Whilst these
‘breaks’ are used for tactical discussions (and your idea would
help solve that) they’re also used to break up any momentum that
the opposition will have.

I’m sure head coaches, analysts and set piece assistants are
gathering round tables working out how to flout the change, but
it’s worth a try.
