Kav will be keeping Cook and Hussin, they work well together as

The FIFA nominations go in by the end of October so any
promotion recommendation for Kav will have been made at least 9
months ago. The UEFA referee panel would have been monitoring
him for much longer than that, even before his Champions League
debut in Jan 2025.

One of the best English referees we have produced in an era
where there is so much media attention. The job is harder than
ever so to rise to the top is some achievement. Well done and
congratulations on an outstanding career. It does without saying
I wish him well in the next stage of his life.
In a way, he may be glad to be out of the politics as I have
wondered what FIFA officials think of that organisation.
Described as corrupt, and I agree, politics may soon affect
referees. I for one couldn't work for them.

No - Barton!! His VAR announcement was the highlight of the WC
for me!

Was a bit shocked when I read the news on Tuesday afternoon but
what a great career Anthony has had been one of the top officals
in England and Europe for a number of years.
I do wonder what made him make the decison, he was still at the
top of his game and could of carried on through to EURO 2028 on
home soil and might have got one of the next two champions
league finals.
Talking of Champions League finals i felt he should have got the
24/25 final with no English team being involved.

When he stepped out for West Ham v Leeds in May, I wonder
whether Anthony (and others such has Howard Webb) knew that this
would be his last game in domestic competitions. If they did
know, they kept very quiet about it (understandably so perhaps),
and thus Anthony was deprived of going out 'with a bang', as
referees such as Mike Dean have done in the past. I wish Anthony
all the best for the future, whatever it holds.

Anthony Taylor has had a career most can only dream of, and
what’s more, he deserved even greater accolades than he
received.
I always thought of Taylor as a ‘referees referee’ of course, he
had nuanced and tactful player management skills, but he never
shirked the unpopular duty he had in order to make his own life
easier. In a sense I felt he was a more classical UEFA official
than a modern game manger type official we often see come out of
the English system in recent times.
He had all the core qualities of the very best referees,
impeccable fitness, courage and almost unmatched technical
accuracy. He always struck me as an official who tried his very
best in every assignment he was given from the first whistle to
last. This I don’t think can be said of every top level referee,
some of whom can at times be complacent and too laidback. Taylor
always had a steely determination about his work, always
enthusiastic and driven to do the very best job he could.
And the job he did, on almost all occasions, was first class.
Despite the criticism he received from lazy, ignorant but sadly
loud voices, he stayed true to his task. This is an admirable
and sadly uncommon virtue these days.
Even more admirable are his activities off the pitch. As bmb,
Phil and others have noted, he is not only a fantastic referee,
but a wonderful person too, it’s nice to see good people succeed
in the often political, biting and frankly ‘bitchy’ world of top
level refereeing.
His CV is missing a Champions League, EURO and/or World Cup
final. But not due to fault of his own, he was held back by
circumstances beyond his control.
Finals however important are only one game. UEFA and the PL have
lost a referee who could be trusted to handle any game,
anywhere, at any time. I will miss Anthony Taylor officiating in
the Premier League and UEFA competitions, but I am consoled that
he has left on his own terms and will hopefully enjoy a quieter
life as he seems to desire, spending time with family and
friends.
I thank him for his contributions and wish him every happiness
going forward.
