Wow, this is certainly a shock. I thought he had a few more
years left in him. But what a career this man has had.
Very sad he couldn’t get the final this year..
Best of luck in the future! He has certainly dug many paths for
future generations. 831 matches is quite the tally..
His career included saving a life on a football pitch, which is
incredible. He ensured Christian Eriksen could get immediate
treatment, which ultimately allowed him to live.

Very surprising news, Although the Likes of Webb and Clattenburg
retired younger, I thought Taylor had a few years left in him,
But I guess he feels he’s achieved all he could, and as he says
officiating at the top level is very intense nowadays.
Good luck to him, he’s been a fantastic servent to english
refereeing, and has represented us excellently on the
international stage, He can be proud of a fantastic career at
the highest level. Wish him the best in whatever he chooses to
do next.

Top Referee
More importantly a really top bloke
Many people won't know how much of his time he has given to
helping particularly young, recently qualified officials, all
"under the radar " all voluntary
I feel privileged to have shared a field of play with him and to
be able to consider him a friend

Or maybe one of the new up and coming refs, e.g Hallam/Kirk etc?

I have a feeling you could be right, Kav sticks with Cook &
Hussin and Barrott gets Beswick and Nunn, or Cook & Hussin get
passed down to Sam and Chris gets Gary and Adam.
I can see reasoning behind splitting the two up and keeping them
as a pair - They’ve both got experience working with and
learning from the best, and can go and pass it down. But also,
they work so well as a team, it’d feel odd to see them split.
All I hope is that they stick with the same person, and don’t
become a ‘floater’ and have a different referee each week. I
think that’s the main thing they need to clamp down on - give
referees pairings, and for empty slots where there isn’t enough
PL assistants, rotate through a few EFL Assistants.
