I’m not sure when Jesus Valenzuela woke up today, he expected to
be in the middle of a game like this. I don’t think I’ve seen
the like.
I’ve hardly noticed him to be honest. More laughing at what I’m
actually witnessing.

I know it’s a nothing game but how many times does the keeper
need telling to go to his goal line for a penalty?
Great performance overall though

Judged the vibe well - diplomatically overlooked a couple of
standard YCs … but was fair to both sides and kept things moving
and under control. FIFA will be pleased. Do think if England had
made the final, he was the choice.

Enjoyed his performance, judged the mood of the game well. Would
have liked a yellow for the keeper at the penalty, maybe that is
something we will have to get another law in for. Maybe let the
kicker take it when he’s ready, with a forfeit if missed?
So pleased for England but very disappointed by a couple of the
questions asked of Saka and Tuchel by BBC Kelly Somers. NOT the
time or place.

What a remarkable match!
I was really happy when I saw he was appointed to this match
because I considered him to be one of the best performing
referees in this tournament. And he justified his appointment
with another great performance.
Really like him as a ref. Every time I've seen him this
tournament he has maintained control superbly with minimal
cards, making it look easy.

Don’t start me on the various antics at penalties (very easily
fixed, if the will was there) to stop so much benefit to the
offending team during a match turning incident. That and the
ref, yet again, in a colour like one of the GKs when green was
available. Ready for a summer rest 😆

The end of the game sums up the game itself. Relaxed, French
players talking to English players, vice versa, no hard
feelings. A huddle of several players of both teams, going to
lift up the opposing players, etc. That’s how it should be.
Whereas tonight, we are likely to see (one team more than the
other, not naming names) a certain nation go flying into one
another, playing dirty and rough to try and win. They won’t be
able to handle the other team’s fast paced passing, tiki taka as
they call it. They’ll get frustrated and resort to just foul,
foul, foul.
Hopefully everyone knows who I’m talking about after Wednesday’s
game!

Agree completely on the penalty antics. You can give a yellow
card for preventing a team from taking a free kick so do it for
preventing a team from taking a penalty. Doesn't need a new
law, just the correct application of an existing one.
