Definite penalty for the kick by Digne on Lamine.
However, forgetting to bring his spray on the pitch gets a
yellow card!
Solid start thus far.

It would have helped if he had had the correct equipment and
been able to manage the players after the decision to award the
penalty.

As usual since the Trump intervention, I’m not watching of
course, but I am a Barton fan as I’ve made clear before, and
hope he’s having a good one.
There is, however, something slightly ironic and faintly comical
about a chemistry professor forgetting his spray . . .

May be a sensitive topic, but is the decision to put Higler, a
dutchman, on VAR duties just days after losing a close colleague
of his?
Unless he wanted to keep the appointment, of course. But I hope
those in trusted positions gave him the option…

Sorry but what just happened? Barton gives France a free-kick
outside the penalty area. It wasn’t a free kick as Dembele
dived. But Ruiz (who gave it away) wasn’t booked. And all of a
sudden Spain have restarted play with a quick free kick of their
own.
Can anyone explain? It surely wasn’t a case of mistaken identity
because no one was booked.

Very poor game management. Several Spanish players surrounded
the Referee. One player is simulating the need for him to
caution a player.
IMO it has been poor and I feel that he is not commanding the
respect of the players.

Everyone assuming it was VAR, but it could have been one of the
other officials over comms.

Rabiot caution very soft for a first of the game
No spray…even if you forget it just do the free kick like
everyone else in the world does and run by the 4th next goal
kick rather than tell the world you’re an idiot
No card for Olise for a worse one than Rabiot
Pen correct, expected. Management weak
Foul given that never was and overruled by something no one knew
was possible
There’s more than one way to skin a cat but he’s not my type!

I disagree I feel even if the players haven’t brought into the
process it not out of hand, he produced 2 easy yellows. Yes
forgetting spray not good but overall compared to the worst
officiating in World Cup history he is doing fine
