Rob Dieperink ❤️ 🕊️

Months after being dropped from the World Cup, Rob Dieperink has
unfortunately passed away.
Rob was due to be a VMO here at the tournament, but was dropped
by FIFA. There is no evidence yet that his absence from the
World Cup is related to the official's death.
The police are currently investigating the cause of death.
My sincere condolences go out to his colleagues, friends and
family.

Very sad news indeed.
It’s a great shame some news outlets are noting his arrest in
the sub-headline or first paragraph of their articles, but not
clarifying until much later that he was not even charged with
any crime, so was therefore completely innocent of any wrong
doing whatsoever.

Such sad news.
Although I rarely saw him officiating in matches, we never
really heard of any big controversies or major problems when he
was on the field.

A statement from Danny Makkelie, enough to bring a tear to the
eyes of the happiest person in the world:
This morning I received the heartbreaking news that my friend,
colleague and teammate Rob Dieperink has passed away suddenly.
Then the world is completely at a standstill. Nothing else seems
important. We only recently spoke to each other during the World
Cup, and now he is no longer here. It is unreal and hardly to be
understood.
Sadness, disbelief and defeat prevail. At such moments you
realise how relative football and actually everything in life
is. Many of the things we worry about on a daily basis suddenly
fall completely to nothing.
My thoughts are primarily with his family, partner, friends and
everyone who loved him. I wish them an incredible amount of
strength in this unimaginably difficult time.
Rest in peace, Rob. You will be greatly missed
♥️😢

Dieperink refereed his last match on 11 July 2026, a friendly
match between Go Ahead Eagles and Apollon Limassol (0–3).
This was two days before the upsetting news came that he had
passed away.
