Fourth game for Oliver this evening.. best of luck to him but he
should be able to breeze through this with the usual high
standard he produces week in week out.

Oliver wanting to be picked for England’s euros 2028 squad?

Don't know how that wasn't a yellow card for Doku. Maybe missed
one for a Spain player earlier too. Perhaps someone had a word
with him about yellows after the amount he gave the previous
game not aligning with the leniency shown through the
tournament?

Solid and safe from Oliver. English officials levels above.

Apart from giving a foul by Porro on Doku which was clearly a
dive on replay and almost body checking Olmo it was pretty much
flawless.
If that is the end of English involvement from an officiating
perspective then Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor can be proud
of their performances during this tournament and representing
our officiating in a very positive way.

I thought Oliver was outstanding. He looked in easy, relaxed
control, cautions spot on and his decisions were given from good
positions and he clearly had the respect of the players, most of
which he knows from the Premier League and European games.
The best officials, like the best players, make it look easy.
They use their experience and expertise and look a class apart
from others.
Michael Oliver has had an outstanding tournament alongside
Anthony Taylor and Jarred Gillett, marking them out as our top
referees. It would be a shame if they don’t get a semi final or
final but with England still pitching, it’s a case of neutrality
rules as it should
do always.
All three should be very pleased and proud of their efforts in
the competition. All three had very good domestic seasons last
year and that form has carried on.
Great work.

Top drawer offerings from Oliver.
Yes he did miss a couple of minor things but in the grand scheme
of things he was hardly noticed and for a World Cup quarter
final, it was impressive.
A shame that this will potentially be his last game, but
anything could happen going forward.
I’m guessing it’ll be Marciniak for France v Spain.

Good performance from Oliver overall, apart from his body check
on Olmo and a free kick he gave to Porro which was simulation.
Not sure the foul that received a card for a belgium player late
in added time was the correct colour, it wasnt game changing
though.

Great performance as per usual, probably should have given a
couple of extra yellows in the first half though.
He has got in the way of play quite a bit this world cup, I
wonder why this may be the case, anyone got any ideas?

I’m not sure but seems to me like a lot of officials seem to be
running in straight line rather than diagonals to the play.
