Seems a very strange decision by Jersey Mike's, their planned
London branch doesn't open for a while yet, and they only plan 3
more, all in London. So even if fans are interested in who they
are, just as I was, they can't actually buy anything from them.
Can only assume it was a very cheap sponsorship deal.

Really disappointed with Dean Watson this evening. A new name
for me, and if I’m not mistaken he is yet to make his EFL bow.
Unfortunately if this is his usual level of performance then he
might be waiting a while.
The first half was generally good. If I’m being fussy, he got
quite a lot of restart decisions wrong but nothing overly
important. The yellow for Lapslie was a very good spot, despite
the protests from the home crowd.
The second started going wrong when he decided to keep counting
at a goal kick after reaching 5 when the score was at 1-1, and
on 75 minutes it became even more tricky. Newcastle’s captain
Bailey, who probably spent more time speaking to Watson than
focusing on the game, was cautioned for what looked like SFP on
Pointon.
This preceded a double yellow for us - one for the foul, one for
delaying the restart (kicking the ball away). The next free kick
followed the same pattern - first a reckless foul, then another
player kicked the ball away - but curiously only one yellow this
time. If you are going to adopt a strict approach, at least be
consistent.
Things unsurprisingly descended into chaos in added time, when
Watson had to reach for his red card for a well spotted stamp by
Newcastle’s Emerson - it was right in front of me but I only
expected a yellow card for the challenge and completely missed
the stamp. Watson missed the retaliation by Powell which wasn't
as bad but in my view was also enough to constitute violent
conduct. Strangely, play restarted with a Newcastle free kick.
It was clear to see why an experienced AR in Mark Cunliffe was
appointed, but a bit less clear why he wasn’t senior assistant.
There should probably have been 2 further yellows for Newcastle
players and it’s a mystery as to how Bailey stayed on, but
Watson probably just wanted to get back to the dressing room.
Not a good day at the office.
