No matter whether they have been given the smallest or biggest
game of a round, we should always be proud to have 2 full teams
going to the World Cup. It’s not common, but also not rare.
Anthony and Michael are both different and similar in their own
respects, and are both more than deserving of any game they are
appointed to, no matter the stature.
This isn’t a proven statistic I have seen anywhere but doesn’t
seem unrealistic - It is probably harder for a referee to be
called up to the World Cup, than it is for a player to make it
to a professional club. Referees only get chances every 4 years,
and they may only ever get 1 chance.
Take people such as Siebert as an example. Refereed the UCL
final, and had a fantastic season in UEFA, but didn’t get called
up here. He is 42 years old, and who knows if he will get
another chance. Not to mention Omar Artan as well, a distressing
       story in it’s own respect.
We should celebrate every appointment, middle, assistant, 4th
official, 5th official, VAR, AVAR, SVAR that an official from
our country gets, as some countries aren’t as fortunate.
This isn’t a dig at anyone - just a message as I’ve seen and
heard people, not specifically on here, complain about the games
       people are getting!

I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of Felix Zwayer getting
England vs Norway but would be happy with any of the UEFA refs
that have been touted as possibilties on this thread

Anthony Taylor and Michael Oliver are simply the 2 best
officials that England have produced for a while.
You don’t get given the honours they have done if they are not
       quality officials.
But one thing with refereeing is that no one does it exactly as
another. They both have different styles of officiating which
allow them to referee to the best of their ability.
Of course I want England to win the World Cup this year but if
we don’t, nothing would please me more to see either of their
names next to the World Cup final because they are both simply
brilliant referees who would deserve the accolade of refereeing
       a World Cup final.

Pinhiero could be in the mix too.

Is Kovacs injured or has he quietly slipped under the radar ? As
I’ve only seen him on one game and he hasn’t been mentioned on
further possible fixtures like rest of the UEFA refs have

It is strange. I agree about Kovacs. But do we assume that with
Makkelie and Zwayer having been 4th O in their last games they
are unlikely to be selected as referees now? I'm not sure. That
       also applies to Pinheiro
       I think.
I'd be very suprised if Marciniak didn't get another game, and
       to a lesser extent Vincic.
I can only see Nyberg and Eskas as possible 4th Officials now,
and that's if they have been retained.

       He's done 2 games.
       21.06 Tunisia v Japan
       28.06 Jordan v Argentina

Dale Johnson (who obviously has friends in high places) has came
out and said that Anthony Taylor was a serious option for the
final in Qatar if Argentina had not made it.
He has also said that Oliver is now in the same position as
Taylor 4 years ago (in strong consideration for the final) but
that Argentina and England will hold him back if either makes it
       past the next round.
A real pity that that is the case.
As regards to the above about the rest of UEFA refs, I read on
another forum that Pinheiro and Mariani are allegedly still in
the USA (how true that is i dont know) which would suggest
planned involvement in some capacity going forward. Kovacs I
dont know but he doesnt seem to be a favourite with FIFA from
       what ive read?
