       It is with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of Ray
       Barton, aged 102.
       Ray dedicated a lifetime to serving football across
       Leicestershire and Rutland through his involvement with the
       County F.A. Alongside his role as a referee, he gave many years
       of outstanding service as the Association's Treasurer and
       Finance Officer.
       Working closely with Gerry Cooper, Ray played a significant role
       in supporting and advancing the aims and objectives of the
       County F.A., leaving a lasting legacy on grassroots football
       across our county.
       In recognition of his exceptional commitment and devotion, Ray
       was presented with the Gerry Cooper Award the day after
       celebrating his 100th birthday, a fitting tribute to his
       remarkable contribution and lifetime of service to the game.
       Ray celebrated his 102nd birthday on 26th June, and his family
       said that he was still enjoying playing golf right up until the
       end, a reflection of the energy and enthusiasm that defined him
       throughout his life.
       Ray's funeral will take place on Monday 20th July at 11:00a.m.,
       and all who knew him are welcome to attend.
       Thank you, Ray, for your extraordinary service, dedication and
       lasting contribution to football in our county. You will be
       remembered with great affection, respect and gratitude
