Good reffing there to give the quick draw YC to prevent a
confrontation after foul on Morocco keeper

It’s not often you see Oliver charging into a card situation.
He’s definitely officiating in a totally different way that he
does domestically and he seems to be keeping a lid on things…
just.

Clear dissent from Canadian player. Bounced the ball in front of
him and no yellow.

I think this game is proving that Oliver and his style relies
heavily on pre built relationships with players which is why up
until now in the WC and in the UCL we've seen him at his best.
Now that that is gone here, he has had to radically change to
try keep control. Hes on the edge now, I dont know if hes making
it to the end without losing the game.

Think Oliver will be secretly quite pleased with that second
goal - should take the sting out of the game a bit

I dunno. We can never be sure what would have happened with
another referee in charge but to me the outcome would have been
broadly the same. This game needed strong firm refereeing and as
far as I can see Oliver has basically done that.
It seems to me that from the very first minute the players were
riled up, and they haven’t come down from that.
It’ll b probably be his last game because unfortunately referees
tend to suffer when players misbehave but the players on both
sides have not helped here. I’m not convinced any actions of the
referee would have changed that bluntly.

Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't
Caution early and players listen, you're a hero
Caution early and players don't, you've lost the game!
Ignore YCs and you're letting referees down
Give the borderline ones and you're being overreactive and
running the game
Players who were trying to be creative would have felt looked
after (unlike the ref the other night where it felt blood would
be spilled)
Had MO been fit to have done his original first game and come
through as I'd expect and Letexiter managed maybe there would be
less said about this reliance on Premier league or European
players (AT is going to have to have his wits about him for the
Iberian derby)
Should England lose in Mexico Oliver will be retained as he is a
viable option for the later stages
If England produce a shock his WC may be over

Surely if England lose, either English Team has a chance of
another fixture?

The missed red card in the Senegal game that had to be corrected
by VAR would probably put Taylor a fair way down the list behind
Oliver

I think Oliver’s performance looks outstanding compared to the
absolute rubbish we saw in the later game. Yes, not the style of
game he would’ve necessarily wanted, but he did what he needed
to in the first half and that helped him get through the second
half. Good management overall.
At the end of the day, nobody will talk about Oliver’s
performance in the days and weeks to come. Less so for the Uzbek
referee.
I wouldn’t bet against seeing Oliver in a SF if England get
eliminated later, especially if there’s an all-UEFA match up.
