Croatia had a 100th minute (or about that) goal disallowed last
evening/this morning after VAR determined an attacking player
touched the ball using the new Snicko-type technology which
wasn’t spotted on field which made another attacker in the build
up offside.
I think this fuels the debate of VAR being over analytical and
what constitutes clear and obvious. In my opinion, if the
technology is there and you have full faith it is accurate then
you should use to come to all the correct decisions. If the
technology wasn’t in place, the goal probably would’ve stood
because VAR wouldn’t have been able to come to a clear
conclusion that the attacker touched the ball.
One of those decisions that is always going to upset somebody.

On the comms - apparently Darren Cann messaged one of the
presenters and said that he called it offside in real time at
full speed.
Impressive - and that’s why he had a long and storied career.
The two VAR announcements were textbook in clarity and
explanation

Mr Cann will always have the respect and attention he deserves
when he is speaking on refereeing matters.
Compare him to Rooney, who doesn’t have a scooby doo what’s
going on when he’s mouthing off criticising decisions in the
past.

Given the bbc takes it to extremes to provide ‘balance,’ maybe
they could ask Darren Cann to comment on tactics and
formations?!
